Yellow Ledbetter - Pearl Jam

I admit that Eddie Vedder's voice can be sometimes hard to understand, but nonetheless I would say that it's still in English...

Portugese reminds me of

Farin Urlaub ~ Saudade

Com licença

eu quero prestar

a sua opinão.

A minha não dá.

A minha não dá.

A minha não é.

A minha não tem jeito.

A minha não está.

A minha não existe.

A minha não quer.

A minha não dá.

Se for possível,

queria adaptar,

a sua verdade.

A minha não dá.

A minha não dá.

A minha não é.

A minha não tem jeito.

A minha não está.

A minha não existe.

A minha não quer.

A minha não dá.

Eu convencia,

vocês a prestar,

a sua educação.

A minha não dá.

A minha não dá.

A minha não é.

A minha não tem jeito.

A minha não está.

A minha não existe.

A minha não quer.

A minha não dá.

Com licença,

eu quero prestar,

a sua realidade ...

I just thought of this song again, years after I heard it last :)

Clandestino ~ Manu Chao

Solo voy con mi pena

Sola va mi condena

Correr es mi destino

Para burlar la ley

Perdido en el corazn

De la grande Babylon

Me dicen el clandestino

Por no llevar papel

Pa' una ciudad del norte

Yo me fui a trabajar

Mi vida la dej

Entre Ceuta y Gibraltar

Soy una raya en el mar

Fantasma en la ciudad

Mi vida va prohibida

Dice la autoridad

Solo voy con mi pena

Sola va mi condena

Correr es mi destino

Por no llevar papel

Perdido en el corazn

De la grande Babylon

Me dicen el clandestino

Yo soy el quiebra ley

Mano Negra clandestina

Peruano clandestino

Africano clandestino

Marijuana illegal

Solo voy con mi pena

Sola va mi condena

Correr es mi destino

Para burlar la ley

Perdido en el corazn

De la grande Babylon

Me dicen el clandestino

Por no llevar papel

Argelino, Clandestino!

Nigeriano, Clandestino!

Boliviano, Clandestino!

Mano Negra, Ilegal!

-------------------------------

(english Translation)

Alone I go with my sorrow

Alone goes my sentence

To run is my destiny

To escape the law

Lost in the heart of the great Babylon

They call me

clandestine

For not having any papers

To a city of the north

I went to work

I left my life

Between Ceuta and

Gibraltar

I’m a line in the sea

A ghost in the city

My life is forbidden

So says the authority

Alone I go with my sorrow

Alone goes my sentence

To run is my destiny

For having no papers

Lost in the heart

Of the great Babylon

They call me clandestine

I’m the lawbreaker

Black Hand clandestine

Peruvian clandestine

African clandestine

Marihuana illegal

Alone I go with my sorrow

Alone goes my sentence

To run is my destiny

To escape the law

Lost in the heart of the great Babylon

They call me

clandestine

For not having any papers

Algerian, Clandestine

Nigerian, Clandestine

Bolivian, Clandestine

A 60's band from Montreal called The Haunted (who I seriously recommend) did a cracking vresion of Purple Haze in French called Vapeur Mauve

Edith Piaf's 'Milord' never fails to blow me away

The Wedding Present recorded a brilliant album in the late 80's of covers of traditional Ukrainian folk songs.

I've always been partial to this one...

Ô Canada!

Terre de nos aïeux.

Ton front est ceint,

De fleurons glorieux.

Car ton bras

Sait porter l'épée,

Il sait porter la croix.

Ton histoire est une épopée,

des plus brillants exploits.

Et ta valeur,

de foi trempée,

protègera nos foyers et nos droits (bis).

(2e couplet, peu utilise)

Sous l'oeil de Dieu

Près du fleuve géant

Le Canadien

Grandit en espérant

Il est neé d'une race fière

Béni fut son berceau

Le ciel a marqué sa carrière

dans ce monde nouveau.

Toujours guidé

par sa lumière

Il gardera l'honneur de son drapeau

to tell you the truth, I don't like the English version much, especially the beginning sounds kind of awkward...

the French and Japanese ones are great though

and te original of course ;)

Martin, I like this tune! I listened to the original version and that one is best, even though I have no idea what they're saying! I also like the french and english versions simply because I can understand.

Cool tune!

thanks for watching :)

Ray, the meaning of the versions are all roughly the same, the fear of having to do something that you don't know where it will lead you... or something like that ;)

I like 99 Luft Balloons by Nena. The German version was more successful in America than was the English version.

I also like Comment te Dire Adieu by Francoise Hardy (written by Edna's boyfriend, Serge Gainsbourgh)

This is my favorite song in another language: Marie Douceur, Marie Colère by Maire Laforet. It's Paint it Black in French. The song is in the movie Talladaga Nights The Ballard of Ricky Bobby. I found it on the Femmes de Paris vol. 1 cd! I love this song!
