  1. When Old Fitty first started the Songfactor's Top Ten lists, I volunteered myself to help compile Songfacts for any top ten songs that didn't have them. The message boards here are fun and informative, but the main site is what keeps it all going. However, the lists started coming fast and furious and I lost track of them. Our sweet katie_sane resurrected the idea and suggested we make it a separate thread to make things easier. She will be in charge of letting you know what songs need facts and sending them to the main site. I will be her willing assistant. You will receive recognition for your contribution in the Songfact. The good news is the current list of songs (Top Ten #10) already have Songfacts. Miss Katie went back through the archives and found the following songs that are in need of information. I believe some of you have made suggestions about one or two of these...we'll go back and get that data. To Love Somebody - The Bee Gees Texas Flood - Stevie Ray Vaughn Hush - Deep Purple Wouldn’t It Be Nice - The Beach Boys If You Could Read My Mind - Gordon Lightfoot Mississippi Queen - Mountain Rainy Night In Georgia - Brook Benton Anything little fact you can think of would be great. Who wrote it, remakes of it by other artists, meanings behind it, movies or TV shows it's been in...anything at all would be much appreciated. We just ask that it is something easily verifiable. Just think, if we get our favorite songs on the main site, maybe we can turn others onto our fabulous musical tastes. Thanks to all of you for helping make Songfacts such a wonderful place.

    What cracks you up?

We have a what makes you happy and a what makes you mad thread, but not a what makes you laugh thread. Since I have been laughing myself silly the past couple of days, I thought I'd start one. What cracks me up today is listening to one of my co-workers giving driving directions to someone. She told this poor man to take a right at a certain road. She said he'd recognize it because "there will be a house on the left that sits way back where you can barely see it behind the trees and on the right will be a field with goats in it." Why even bring up the house you can't see if you can't see it? And you know you're in the damn country when directions include goats.

    Songs for kids age 8 - 11

I'm doing a presentation at a middle school. I was going to incorporate some fun, dance-y music but I've realized I have no idea what rugrats that age listen to. My head is telling me stuff like Miley Cyrus and that child of the corn Justin Bieber, but my heart is telling me there's got to be something else that will hold their attention/entertain them. Suggestions, Songfactors?

    Wonky Boards

The boards have been freaking out on me for the past day. They take forever to come up, if at all, and then I can only read one or two posts before I'm thrown out altogether. I thought it was just me, but I've had confirmation from a reliable source that it's happened to someone else as well. It may only be a minor temporary glitch, but I wanted to put it on record in case something serious should occur.

A sad announcement: Karma is gone.

So sorry to hear about our beloved Karma. She was full of life and joy and kindness. Her light will never be extinguished even though she is not physically with us anymore. Love and prayers to Lea and her family.

There are at least 3 of us that watch Psych, so I've decided that the show deserves its own thread. According to the almighty Wikipedia, Psych is an American criminal comedy-drama mystery television series created by Steve Franks and broadcast on USA Network. It stars James Roday as Shawn Spencer, a young crime consultant for the Santa Barbara Police Department whose "heightened observational skills" and impressive detective instincts allow him to convince people that he solves cases with psychic abilities. The program also stars Dulé Hill as Shawn's best friend, straight man and reluctant partner Burton "Gus" Guster, as well as Corbin Bernsen as Shawn's captious father, Henry. Here is a link to USA's Psych page. Feel free to discuss the hilarity and fabulosity of the show here. I won't start until my besainted heterosexual life partner Shannon sees this week's episode.

    Song/Video of the day

I absolutely promise you that if I've had enough to drink while out dancing with my girls (or gays), I do the African Anteater Dance. It's a big hit every time. Extra gnarly points for the Gerardo appearance. Rico Suave indeed. Also a very quotable movie. I told Mr. Peaches the other day that he was draped all over me like a cheap &*^%-ing suit. The classics never die.

    American Idol Season 10

I wasn't sure how this season would go with no Simon and new judges, but I've got to say that I enjoyed the first couple of episodes. I like that they aren't showing as many bad auditions. Either the bad people don't know they are bad and that's just kind of sad, or they are just attention whores who want to be on TV by any means necessary, which is also kind of sad. I can do without the sob stories but as long as they can sing, I will put up with them. I wasn't sure how Steven and Jennifer were going to do but I was pleasantly surprised. They actually seemed to want to be there for the right reasons, as opposed to judges from the past. Jennifer wasn't as much of a bitch as I thought she'd be. Honestly, I don't know why I thought she would be a bitch. She's got a bit of a diva reputation so that must have clouded my perception of her. She could be a little tougher on those who don't have a chance but I think she'll settle into it. Steven is a crazy old loon but he seems to have a vague idea what he is talking about. I love that he is so into the process that he looks like he wants to jump up and start singing along with the people. In short: So far, so good. *Gentle Words from Mama Peaches* I understand that American Idol and shows of that nature are a polarizing topic. People generally love them or hate them. This particular thread is a safe haven for discussions amongst those who enjoy the show. So if you don't like American Idol or the premise of the show, this thread might not be the place for you. Shoo! Scat! Get out! Thank you and have a pleasant day.
