TheLizard
Electronic music is the new rock and roll and rock and roll is irrelevant. Which means I am irrelevant. It's the age of laptop music and I don't know what to do about it.
Farin
music is full of different currents whose popularity is changing in ever faster getting tides... electronic music will get less important and rock and roll will become bigger again... it's just a matter of time
TheLizard
I'm actually not sure about that. The whole "irrelevant" thing was overdramatic drunkenness, but I think techno is experiencing it's own rock-in-the-50's-esque revolution, which I predicted would happen in a sociology paper I wrote a few years ago, because I'm so smart. I think it's only a few years more until electronic music finds its Beatles.
Jenny
I have been printing out "best of" lists from different sources and making playlists. It's a good way to discovere new music or rediscover favorites. My Grooveshark playlist is growing by leaps and bounds.
_Laurie_
The Cheers theme song totally doesn't go with the State Farm commercial...I hear that song and I think of Cheers...thought it was a strange choice of songs for that ad.
Carl
Stevie Wonder wrote "Happy Birthday" in honor Martin Luther King's birthday. The song was a big hit in the UK, but tanked in America.

Farin
But it's no fun if nobody guesses I know the Top 20, so I can at least tell you if you're close and it's not like as if it was very surprising...
TheLizard
Is it something by Sir Justin Bieber, PhD?
Jenny
Maybe "Born This Way" by Lady Gaga?
Shawna
"Thriller" by Michael Jackson. hahahah! Just kiddin'. That's way too long a song. I'm with Tim. I'm thinking Bieber, because little girls who are in love with him would play his stuff over and over and over and over and over and over and over... But I can't guess any particular song, since I don't know any particular songs of his and I avoid them when and where possible.
Farin
Thriller isn't in it (by far I have to say, the most amount of listeners for MJ has Billie Jean) - but it still DOES have double the amount than the highest Justin Bieber song (which is "Baby" btw... no, I don't know it either) the highest Lady Gaga song is "Poker Face", which barely comes into the Top 10 as #10 a small hint: every track above that is more or less a Rock song
Carl
Maybe "Hotel California"? That one is pretty popular around here.

Jenny
Yesterday, while I was having tea at Dunkin' Donuts, one of the girls behind the counter who was probably a twinkle in her daddy's eye when I was in college, started singing "Hey Jude". Soon, one of the other kids joined in. Guess today's kids don't have such bad taste in music after all. Oh, my nephews, ages 12 and 9, who are studying guitar, also like the Beatles!
