TheLizard
as she becomes a tolerable adult entertainer. That's a bold prediction.
Carl
I'm just hoping for tolerable. Not sure if there is precedent for this. Teen stars like Debbie Gibson have gone on to entertain us in those great Syfy movies with names like "Sharktopus," but she was never ubiquitous or annoying. Carl
Josh Kelley married Katherine Heigl. Two random thoughts: 1) They adopted a daughter named Naleigh. Is it weird that the girl from Knocked Up didn't get knocked up? 2) Why didn't she change her name to Katherine Kelley? That sounds soooo much better. Carl
I bet for some songs the thesaurus lyrics would be better than the originals.

Yellowsnow
5 seconds of every #1 in the US single charts 1956 - 1992. Part 1 Part
TheLizard
Just started listening to this. Seems like the 50s was either Elvis or novelty hits, with some soul and doo wop occasionally sprinkled in there.
TheLizard
Also interesting how there's a really good streak in the early 60s with Ray Charles and the Everly Brothers, etc, but then things start to take a turn for the really, really cheesy... until The Beatles show up and things really turn on. TheLizard
Yeah, the 80's are definitely worse. Holy crap.
TheLizard
Hate on U2 all you want, from this it seems they were apparently the only thing interesting being played on pop radio in the 80s.
TheLizard
RICK ROLLED. I'd call it the low point of pop music, but I belong the the Black Eyed Peas generation.
TheLizard
Was Ice Ice Baby really the first rap number one? White people suck.
TheLizard
Ok. Michael Bolton singing When A Man Loves A Woman is the low point of pop music.
TheLizard
Well part 2 was horrifically painful, for the most part. The Nirvana phenomenon makes a lot more sense in that context. I can imagine growing up in that time, not having the internet to immediately find something more interesting, and just waiting for something like Nirvana to show up. Thank God that thing stopped after 1992, I grew up during the period after, I know it doesn't get better. Ok, I'll stop spamming this thread now. Carry on. MindCrime
The audio recording of some of these samples is very low quality, almost sounds like the person held a cassette mic recorder up to a radio speaker.
Farin
I was kind of shocked right now when I noticed that the Beck song is called "Devils Haircut" and not - like I always thought - "Devil's Haircut" especially since I usually do notice such things... but now I've got to fix my tags and scrobbles
Carl
That does change the meaning of the song, since there are now multiple devils. The power of the apostrophe! My thought: "Hip Hop Hooray" by Naughty By Nature is the most risqué song you can still play in a family-friendly environment like a minor league baseball game. Unless the kitten in the song really is a baby cat.
