Where I've been.

So all of a sudden on Saturday my left leg blows up like a balloon. Hurts like hell so I go see the doctor who replaced that knee four years ago, Dr. Ciccotti. After a great examination and a few tests it is determined that I have an infection. Uh oh...my biggest fear.

Then I see revision and infection specialist. Dr. Austin. Surgery will be necessary to do a clean out and whatever else may necessary. That is done on Friday.

It was necessary to remove the entire knee prosthesis. They cleaned out the area and put in a spacer which is a temporary cement version of the prosthesis. After six weeks of aggressive anti biotic treatment they may be able to go back in and put in a new replacement. If not the process will be repeated.

Hopefully they'll be able to save my leg. In the meantime I cannot bend the leg or put weight on it. So it's a wheelchair and a walker for me and I'll need ambulance service to get me everywhere...including to dialysis three days a week.

So that's where I've been...and where I'll be.

Life sucks right now.

Yes, Life Sucks sometimes, Uncle Joe. I've had similar symptoms of infections, amputations and diagnosis and been in a wheelchair the last 3 months...

Aggressive antibiotics... orally or they give you shots to take home or can you do a Hypebaric chamber to flush out the infection.

I'll keep praying for YOU!

Can you do a wheelie in the chair yet ? :)
