Things and people you miss...

Ten Pea's post about Johnny Carson and Karnak in the Give me an answer, etc. thread reminded me how much I miss Carson. He was a major part of my daily life for almost 30 years. I never went to bed until after his show (1 AM in Philly).

I also miss:

The Far Side (Gary Larson)

Calvin And Hobbes (Bill Watterson)

Peanuts (Charles Schultz)

A book a year each by Robert Ludlum and John Le Carre.

Of course their body of work is still here and the strips are rerun or offered in collections but there's nothing new to look forward to.

How about you? Anything/one that you miss (including recently departed rockers)?

I still wish Steve Irwin was around... again, I'm not a fan, but he's always been there! And yesterday I learnt that his eight-year-old daughter called him the most important person in her life and that got me all teary.

I miss Freddie Mercury incredibly... especially when I hear his later songs. That was a voice.

I miss Charles Schultz. I remember reading his letter of retirement in the paper when he was struggling with cancer (colon cancer, I think) and his death shortly after.

How I miss John Lennon and George Harrison and The Beatles in general. When I hear this song I think of them more:

Lyrics for: In My Life

There are places I remember

All my life, though some have changed

Some forever not for better

Some have gone and some remain

All these places have their moments

With lovers and friends I still can recall

Some are dead and some are living

In my life I've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers

There is no one compares with you

And these memories lose their meaning

When I think of love as something new

Though I know I'll never lose affection

For people and things that went before

I know I'll often stop and think about them

In my life, I love you more

(Instrumental)

Though I know I'll never lose affection

For people and things that went before

I know I'll often stop and think about them

In my life, I love you more

In my life, I love you more

JANE! The theme song for "Maude" is my favorite theme of all time! Donny Hathaway sang it...I loved him.

Lady Godiva was a freedom rider

She didn't care if the whole world looked.

Joan of Arc with the Lord to guide her

She was a sister who really cooked.

Isadora was the first bra burner

Ain't you glad she showed up? (Oh yeah)

And when the country was falling apart

Betsy Ross got it all sewed up.

And then there's Maude.

And then there's Maude.

And then there's Maude.

And then there's Maude.

And then there's Maude.

And then there's Maude.

And then there's

That old compromisin', enterprisin', anything but tranquilizing,

Right on Maude!

I miss After Eights... I haven't had them in years :( I love those minty things.

why don't you buy some? :stars:

I really miss Monty Python, or let's say, I wish they'd do some new stuff. It probably wouldn't be as good as what they used to do, but just the general idea of new Flying Circus episodes..

I agree :(
