    The "Old" Songfacts Gang

I was wondering if any of the old Songfacts gang (you know who you are) checks in to the site much these days. Every once in while I come back searching for you guys but come up empty. It was a vibrant and crazy place when we all joined close to 15 years ago and it remained that way for a long time. Frankly I miss it. If any of you stop by, leave a comment. I'd love to know how you guys are doing. RonJonSurfer (Ron)

Carl, Thanks. Of course I follow SongFacts too. I have a lot of fun with it. It's really just the way I'd be talking about music with friends and whoever else is in earshot. The marketing aspect fascinates me too. I like when I figure something out and get a big response. Ron

    The "Old" Songfacts Gang

If anybody cares about my daily ramblings about music via Twitter...you can find me at Best Song I Heard Today @bestsongIheard I do Top 10's, songs of the day, photos of my vinyl collection and lot's of random nonsense. Much like I did on SongFacts. I'm almost up to 4000 followers and I get some play from some rockers like Tommy James, Eric Carmen, Dave Davies and others. It's fun for me.

    Happy New Year 2017...

Hey Kids...I hope you all have a wonderful new year. Don't feel bad about about those favorite rockers that died last year. It's just life's way of turning the page. Do yourself a big favor and listen to the legacy of music they left us and listen often. It's always there for you. No matter how many years pass by without them, their music sounds as fresh and crisp as it ever did. Just today I cranked up "Once or Twice" by Chicago. It was written and sung by the late, great Terry Kath. Terry died just a week short of his 32nd birthday on January 23, 1978. His voice roared, his guitar roared; but he wasn't invincible. Overconfidence and silly gun play caused Terry to shoot himself dead. He sang lead vocals on Colour My World and Make Me Smile. He played lead guitar on I'm A Man and 25 or 6 to 4. If he did nothing else there would be a lifetime of musical enjoyment for me. So enjoy the music that your rock heroes left behind. Here's Once or Twice from Chicago and Terry Kath for you:

  12. This is a question that has been banging around in my head for a long time. I have no idea how to find the answer (translated - I'm way too lazy to find the answer). What is the earliest date of birth (by year) of a person (actor or not) to appear in a film? Example: I noted that the actor that played Uncle Henry in the Wizard of Oz was born in 1869. I've always been fancinated by our connections to the past. I would bet there was some 70/80 year old actor that appeared in a silent film in 1912. Imagine he or she would have been born in 1832 if 80 years old. To think that I can watch a person born in 1832 on film today is amazing to me. It might be even earlier too. I just don't really know how to research this easily. Any ideas? You guys are always a great source for this sort of information. Thanks, Ron
