Steel2Velvet
Danny's Song by Loggins and Messina "Even though we ain't got money I'm so in love with you, Honey" Sweet Life by Paul Davis "We always dreamed we'd live in a castle We're in the same old shack" "We always dreamed we'd make a lot of money But I don't mind being poor 'Cause when you make love to me, Honey Who could ask for any more?" _Laurie_
First song I thought of was Danny's Song!... How about I Got You Babe ~ Sonny & Cher "They say our love won't pay the rent, Before it's earned our money's all been spent I guess that's so, we don't have a pot But at least I'm sure of all the things we got" Patches ~ Clarence Carter "I could still hear papa when he'd say Patches, I'm depending on you son I tried to do my best It's up to you to do the rest". RonJonSurfer
Your Song It's a little bit funny this feeling inside I'm not one of those who can easily hide I don't have much money but boy if I did I'd buy a big house where we both could live If I was a sculptor, but then again, no Or a man who makes potions in a travelling show I know it's not much but it's the best I can do My gift is my song and this one's for you And you can tell everybody this is your song It may be quite simple but now that it's done I hope you don't mind I hope you don't mind that I put down in words How wonderful life is while you're in the world I sat on the roof and kicked off the moss Well a few of the verses well they've got me quite cross But the sun's been quite kind while I wrote this song It's for people like you that keep it turned on So excuse me forgetting but these things I do You see I've forgotten if they're green or they're blue Anyway the thing is what I really mean Yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen

Tenacious_Peaches
Sort of kind of in the neighborhood of the theme... If I Ain't Got You Alicia Keys Some people live for the fortune Some people live just for the fame Some people live for the power, yeah Some people live just to play the game Some people think that the physical things Define what's within And I've been there before But that life's a bore So full of the superficial [Chorus:] Some people want it all But I don't want nothing at all If it ain't you baby If I ain't got you baby Some people want diamond rings Some just want everything But everything means nothing If I ain't got you, Yeah Some people search for a fountain That promises forever young Some people need three dozen roses And that's the only way to prove you love them Hand me the world on a silver platter And what good would it be With no one to share With no one who truly cares for me [Chorus:] Some people want it all But I don't want nothing at all If it ain't you baby If I ain't got you baby Some people want diamond rings Some just want everything But everything means nothing If I ain't got you, you, you Some people want it all But I don't want nothing at all If it ain't you baby If I ain't got you baby Some people want diamond rings Some just want everything But everything means nothing If I ain't got you, yeah [Outro:] If I ain't got you with me baby So nothing in this whole wide world don't mean a thing If I ain't got you with me baby

Dappled
Two Sisters by The Kinks Sybilla looked into her mirror Priscilla looked into the washing machine And the drudgery of being wed She was so jealous of her sister And her liberty, and her smart young friends She was so jealous of her sister Sybilla looked into the wardrobe Priscilla looked into the frying pan And the bacon and eggs And the breakfast is served She was so jealous of her sister And her way of life, and her luxury flat She was so jealous of her sister She'd throw away her dirty dishes just to be free again Her women's weekly magazines just to be free again And put the children in the nursery just to be free again Priscilla saw her little children And then decided she was better off Than the wayward lass that her sister had been No longer jealous of her sister So she ran 'round the house with her curlers on No longer jealous of her sister

miamisammy29
Two Sisters by The Kinks "Situations Vacant" - by The Kinks "Suzy and Johnny were happy Earned enough to pay the rent But Johnny's mother-in-law had too much ambition And this made Johnny very upset So to keep his little mama satisfied He went and bought the weekly classified All for peace and quiet's sake Johnny gave up his position Just to please his mother-in-law So he left the job where he'd been all his life He left and turned his back on door[?] Now he's looking at the situations vacant Situations vacant Just to keep his little mama satisfied He went and bought the weekly classified All for peace and quiet's sake Then he had to leave the apartment And sought a less plush residence And poor Suzy and Johnny had to skimp and save Just to help to pay the weekly rent So to keep his little mama satisfied He went and bought the weekly classified All for peace and quiet's sake Johnny's got no money Got no where to go Johnny's in a great big hole Suzy's separated, living with her ma Now little mama's satisfied"
delawareadams
For me one of the greatest love songs of all is "In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel off of the So album. The song really speaks to the fact that life isn't perfect much of the time and neither is love, but, instead, it tells how the bad or hard times just makes real love stronger. For me it is far more a true song than the many gooey love songs out there. Not that there's anything wrong with them, just that this particular song has a lot more meaning from me.
