Karma, I've looked forward to your PTT and your list did not disappoint. I was already quite familiar with all but about 5 of the songs.

Here are my choices

1-Drift away - Dobie Gray-I wanna get lost in your rock and roll.

2-Stand By Me - Ben E. King

3-Wasted On The Way - Crosby, Stills & Nash

4-End Of The World - Skeeter Davis-You know, I almost swatted her once.

5-Fire And Rain - James Taylor

6-Haven't Got Time for the Pain - Carly Simon

7-If You Could Read My Mind - Gordon Lightfoot-Ahhh yes, what a tale.

8-Moonshadow - Cat Stevens

9-Time In A Bottle - Jim Croce-It was between this and Tears In Heaven. I went with this.

10-How High The Moon - Les Paul & Mary Ford-Smoooooooothe!

I always preferred Merilee Rush's Angel Of The Morning so I eliminated Juice's version. Christopher Cross almost made the list but I prefer some of his other songs like All Right and Never Be The Same. I love the sound of Smooth Operator but I hate the lyrics...I find them stupid. I mean like, "Coast to coast, LA to Chicago". Man, give this girl a freakin' map.

:headphones: :coolio: I liked your list, Karma. I had some of your selections on my PTT long list. That was a pleasant surprise. The inclusion of Four Strong Winds spoke to me of your broad range of music enjoyment. Written by Ian Tyson (his version was on my list,) many consider this Canada's "second anthem."

:content: I like your list. These would be me Top Ten......

1. Light My Fire - The Doors (the electricity and energy of this song jumping from a cheap little 8 transister radio was an all powerfull epithany exposing possibilities previously un-imagined)

2. Fire And Rain - James Taylor (I was so mad when they moved JT to the 'soft-rock' bin)

3. If - Bread (a song a man has to be of a certain age to be man enuff to admit he actually likes)

4. Mr Tambourine Man - Bob Dylan (though I heard The Bryds cover 1st and so still like that one slightly better)

5. Only Love Can Break Your Heart - Neil Young (never knew it was true, 'til it happened to me)

6. Hummingbird - Seals & Crofts (whatever happened to Dash?)

7. Moonshadow - Cat Stevens (can you imagine the great songs that might be around if Cat had stayed pop and Cat?)

8. The Dance - Garth Brooks (a song and via, a genre, accidentaly and reluctantly I came, kicking and screaming, to appreciate)

9. The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down - Joan Baez (a great cover of an even greater, imo, orig)

10. Green Tambourine - The Lemon Pipers (was this the 1st ever commercial alternative hit?)

================= :soapbox: ==================

now you went and made me admit, I kind of like this kind of stuff

Somewhere Between - Somewhere Between

This is a typo. It should read Somewhere Between ~ Suzy Boguss. I hope nobody minds if I fix it .... :P

karma, I'm loving your list. Where were you and Skeeter back when I nominated that song for the regular Top Ten? It's hard for me voting wise, cause you've included some great old country, some great rock, and just enough of the good soft sounds I enjoy! I'll need time. ;)

My goodness, my beautiful people!! I am truly overwhelmed by all of your kind comments. I was dreading putting my list up because it is so soft. These songs made up the story of my life, each one reminding me of an event, some special and some heartbreaking. I feel so touched by all the nice remarks. Thank you all so very, very much.
