Carl
Just learned that Cameron Diaz is married to one of the guys from Good Charlotte. Something about that seems a little off - maybe because I think of them as a generation apart.
Carl
Heard an '80s cover band doing "Jack & Diane" yesterday. When they got the line before Jack scratches his head, I heard it for the first time as "Flexes his thoughts for a moment."I think it's really "Reflects" or "Fixes", but I like it as flex. After all, if you can flex your muscles, why not your thoughts?
miamisammy29
Isn't it "COLLECTS his thoughts for a moment"?
Carl
Maybe it is Collects, but I still like Flexes better. Gonna use that in conversation: Let me flex my thoughts for a moment.Let's see if this new emoji works Wow, I guess they can be whatever size we want. Carl
"Can't Feel My Face" is the closest I've heard to '80s Michael Jackson.
Jenny
I agree, Carl, but Bruno Mars' music and Justin Timberlake's "Rock Your Body" also seem MJ inspired
Otokichi
Well, Bruno Mars was a preteen Elvis Presley impersonator, so I'd expect the ghost of "Col. Tom Parker" to be present.;)
Carl
Hoping there will be a day when the word Isis is once again best-known as a Bob Dylan song. And a beautiful one at that:Isis, oh, Isis, you mystical childWhat drives me to you is what drives me insaneI still can remember the way that you smiledOn the fifth day of May in the drizzlin’ rain
miamisammy29
Isis is also the name of Bud Bundy's rubber love doll.
RonJonSurfer
Hoping there will be a day when the word Isis is once again best-known as a Bob Dylan song. And a beautiful one at that:Isis, oh, Isis, you mystical childWhat drives me to you is what drives me insaneI still can remember the way that you smiledOn the fifth day of May in the drizzlin’ rainIt's a fantastic song too. I enjoyed it for years before I ever had to hear about the negative use of Isis.

Carl
From the Queen in Montreal 1981 concert. Not sure if Freddie was drinking the keg beer, the Heineken or the coffee.
RonJonSurfer
I'm betting against the coffee...assuming that's what is in those cups.
Otokichi
Coffee was the best thing available...
RonJonSurfer
I picked up a few bags of Kona Joes coffee when I was in Hawaii this past May. It was wonderful and I like to think it would have been endorsed by Freddie Mercury.
Carl
When I hear references to sleighs or their bells in modern Christmas songs, I think it's a cop-out. It's a Christmas archetype, but it has nothing to do with anyone's actual experience with Christmas in the last 50 years.
RonJonSurfer
especially when it will be 72 degrees on Christmas Eve.....
