Yes to both of those.

He was a part of King Crimson for their 1969 album "In The Court Of The Crimson King". The group went through a complete line-up change after that, and Lake moved on to form ELP with Keith Emerson and Carl Palmer.

I like his versatility most. He can sing both mellow ballads and exciting rock 'n' roll very well. I particularly like his contributions to ELP albums:

King Crimson lyricist Pete Sinfield did write some songs for ELP. That's all I know about other KC members contributing to ELP. I think Greg Lake wrote most of their lyrics.
