I just vote for my favorite songs. I don't care if they are popular or not. Hell, I nominate un-popular songs. I don't care if they make it into the 10, I just hope to turn people onto what I consider good tunes! I have been turned onto songs that I'd never heard before and loved them. It's not a personal popularity contest, it's just fun.

1. Take The Skinheads Bowling - Camper Van Beethoven (Very cool band whose leader went on to form an even better band - Cracker! And besides, where else would you take a Skinhead?....Fishing? Come on, get real!)

2. Ride Captain Ride - Blues Image (One of the Top Ten one-hit wonders of all time.)

3. Dandelion - The Stones (three words...piss-the-beds)

4. Dead End Street - Kinks ("What are we living for? Two-roomed apartment on the second floor..")

5. Hair - Cowsills (A favorite of Marc, UncleJoe and myself, for reasons undisclosed.)

6. Monterey - Eric Burden/Animals (Quite the colorful bash, that Monterey.)

7. A Million Miles Away - Plimsouls (The band can be seen doing this - their biggest hit - and a couple more pretty cool punkass tunes in the movie "Valley Girl". Watch it for the Plimsouls, not for Nicolas Cage.)

8. Volunteers - Jefferson Airplane (Jorma Kaukonen rules!! The coolest Finn to ever strap on the axe.)

9. Sex And Candy - Marcy Playground (Cool tune, but destined to be a one-hit wonder.)

10. The Singer Not The Song - The Stones (Another cool tune from the same guys that you brought you "The Under Assistant West Coast Promotion Man".)

b-f, I'm not going to quote your entire post, there's no need. I agree with almost everything that you said. I'm a huge Stone's fan, and could put them at the top every time. I don't. I stated when we first began this little adventure of ours (the Top Ten), that I wouldn't nominate any Stone's songs. I've kept to that promise, except once. I feel the same as many others, that it's like "shooting fish in a barrel", to quote Martin.

As for your suggestion... I'd be perfectly willing to take it under consideration, but there are many, many, many who wouldn't like it.... ;)

Darryl: "nu-uh, I didn't start it....Mom!! }:(

Well, I've been playing it up for a bit of fun. If Martin says it was my idea that's fine. May the best songs win !

:)

I read b-f's fine Post and Lucky's response. I don't agree with having Official 'Stones or Beatles Only' Top Tens, but we are looking at making them a couple of 'Specials'. Thanks b-f. We won't consider banning them completely though.

However we will exclude them from some Top Tens, giving it a trial in #70. I don't think it will affect things too much. How about thinking up your best Beatles and Stones songs, which haven't yet been nominated, for our Triple Silver Top Ten #75.

:)

Something else I've been meaning to say. I quite often praise our "Team", but I made a glaring omission when I last did so, leaving Katie out. I DO appreciate her chasing up info for songs in our Top Tens which aren't on the Songfacts' Data Base.

:)
