musical interlude:

Alter Mann ~ Knorkator (watch the video  )

[spoilerq:1]translated lyrics[/spoilerq]

[spoilera:1]Old Man

Daniela fancies Jonas

but Jonas loves Vanessa

Vanessa would like to be with Lars

but he likes Melanie more

She however fancies Tim

Tim in turn thinks Jennifer's cool

but Jennifer is in love with Kevin

but Kevin is gay

Tobias lusts after Annika

and Annika actually after him too

but bad luck, he's already the heartthrop of her best friend

Thank goodness that I'm an old man

that's all nothing to me anymore

I'm neither hetero nor gay

and all I need is a comfortable chair

Hagen shoots Sebastian

Sven runs Hagen down

Christopher strangles Sven

and is striked dead by Yannick

Björn and Jochen kill Yannick

Lukas finishes Björn and Jochen

Benjamin puts Lukas to rest

and is stabbed by Nils

after that Nils gets bumped off

by Felix and Thorsten

Alexander kills Thorsten and Felix,

and is shot

Thank goodness that I'm an old man

that's all nothing to me anymore

I'm perfectly fine on my balcony

and watching what you're all doing down there

I'm not going to make it for much longer

in this earthly vale of tears anyway

Smash everything to pieces if you like

I don't care about it at all

Thank goodness that I'm an old man

that's all nothing to me anymore

and when the earth is exploding

pardon me that I don't care a fig for it

pardon me that I don't care a fig for it...[/spoilera]

It is true, that was announced when the idea for the game was announced. Albums will be available for download monthly, I believe. I know Metallica's Master of Puppets is another one that will be available. Personally, I don't see what's wrong with that. Rock Band is a great, innovative video game and it's a very good way to get people that otherwise wouldn't bother to discover The Who. Guitar Hero and Rock Band have been vital in sparking an interest in classic rock amongst people my age who had no previous interest.

Don't know if you all ever feel this way, but sometimes I skip through songs that I've loved in the past.

Maybe I'm not in the mood to hear it, or I've heard it so many times before, or maybe it's just the hecticness of life (work, kid, etc)that make me click through or skip through a beloved song.

Yesterday I was driving, flipping around on the satellite radio and "Jungleland" by Bruce Springsteen was on, a real favorite of mine in the past but largely ignored by me in the last 10-15 years or so.

Something had me keep the radio on that station and I listened to the song again to the very end. I felt a cynical-ness melt away, at least temporarily. I felt the power of first discovering a moving piece of music. That was cool.
