Levis Posted April 5, 2008 Report Posted April 5, 2008 According to the R.E.M. page on facebook: Today is the 28th anniversary of the band's first performance at a friend's birthday party at St. Mary's Episcopal Church on Oconee Street in Athens, GA.
Levis Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 In other news, Blind Melon released their first album in 12 years last month. I just heard a song from it... 'tis not the same
Levis Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 (edited) So I just started reading this book - The Last Party - all about Britpop and such (I like it lots already). I'm up to about...1991-92, and it seems to me that the Blur-Suede feud is quite a huge deal. Suede kinda outstripped Blur when they came up and the way it's portrayed, I'm all for them (Suede, not Blur). Also they have nicer hair. And Albarn and gang are kinda... mean. I'm not liking them. Musically and in terms of personality I give props to Pulp, Suede and Oasis before them. Edited April 7, 2008 by Guest put in link
Levis Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 Oi... clarifying... I do not dislike Blur... For Tomorrow, This is a Low, She's So High, Beetlebum etc. etc. are still favourite songs!
_Laurie_ Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 I never knew the theme to the Godfather had words to it...I have always loved the instrumental...but I heard Andy Williams sing the words to this and it's called "Speak Softly Love"....beautiful lyrics....I liked it alot...and Andy Williams voice was perfect for this song....I'll post lyrics in Random Lyrics...
lizdarocker Posted April 10, 2008 Report Posted April 10, 2008 They sound a like and people still buy them. Crazy huh?
Carl Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 Ever be driving along, lost in your thoughts, and you forget we're not in the '90s anymore? I was grooving along to Harvey Danger and thinking this Internet thing might be a big deal when the radio station announced that Pearl Jam was coming to Hartford and I could get lawn seats through Ticketmaster for $48. Nothing breaks the '90s spell quite like overpriced Pearl Jam tickets that can only be purchased through Ticketmaster.
_Laurie_ Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 I hear ya Carl...Tom Petty is coming here with Steve Winwood...$95 a ticket.
skybluesky Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 My mom and I were discussing how expensive Miley Cyrus tickets are and she told me she and my dad were outraged at paying $25 bucks a ticket in 1990 for New Kids tickets.
_Laurie_ Posted April 12, 2008 Report Posted April 12, 2008 Ya know, I really like the song "I Can See Clearly Now"...Johnny Nash...
