Slowhand Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 Oh I like Lenny Kravits too, but not in a guilty plesure sort of way, I actually like his music.
Elvish Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 Lots of mine have already been mentioned: Bee Gees, Monkees, Kid Rock, Justin Timberlake, and Nickelback. I love "Home" by Michael Buble. I'm afraid to listed to anything else of his because I might like it Country music in general is a big one for me, Kelly Clarkson, soundtracks (Eddie and the Cruisers, Dirty Dancing....) I'll stop now
Jenny Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 Lenny Kravitz is not a guilty pleasure, IMO. I like some Michael Buble as well
Slowhand Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 Maybe we should just start some polls: "Should Lenny Kravitz count as a musical guilty pleasure?" -Yes -No -Tell him to to shave the dreads, and maybe not
Farin Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 depends on the song, imho eg "Are you gonna go my way" <=> "Heaven Help"
Levis Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 I say no... ... well much stronger no than yes. Irrespective of the song
edna Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 I agree with Jenny and Radhi. Lenny Kravitz isn´t a guilty pleasure...
miamisammy29 Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 Lenny Kravitz rules!! "Where Are We Runnin'?" is one of the ten best songs of the new millenium.
miamisammy29 Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 Haven't gotten the chance to see him yet...but I would.
TheLizard Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 I saw him open up for Aerosmith. Excellent show. My ears were buzzing for weeks.
edna Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 Now, The Sandpipers would be a guilty pleasure. Though not mine, in any case...
Elvish Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 I thought Kravitz already had chopped the dreads?
Sweet Jane 61 Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 I agree with Jenny and Radhi. Lenny Kravitz isn´t a guilty pleasure... But for me he is, I don't listen to hardly anyone out of the 60' and 70's era and his style isn't something I normally like, but he has funk so I like a few songs. To me a guilty pleasure is something out of your normal musical tastes. Guess I was wrong.
Jenny Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 You're not wrong, Jane. I interpret a "guilty pleasures" as artists/songs that most people would not consider "serious" music, or would be considered cheesy. We were all trying to say that Lenny Kravitz has credibility, so you should not feel guilty listening to him.
Sweet Jane 61 Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 Jenny, my friends here at home would probably laugh a little if they knew I listened to Lenny, just because they have pretty much the same musical taste I do and don't listen to many artists past 1979. They always tease me about David Cassidy!
Tenacious_Peaches Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 I like looking at Lenny a lot more than I like listening to him.
dude Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 Lenny Kravitz's influences are very apparent in his music, and he touches on several genres. The 60's and 70's were his molding years, and that's what he reminds me of when I hear him. Rock with a true funk underbelly. He's a very, very good musician. If I were to start a band, he'd be my bass player, for sure. Melodic, but with a funky sound and a punch in the gut power. As far as guilty pleasures, I'd say the Carpenters and Jim Croce. Karen had a beautiful voice, and Jim Croce was a brilliant songwriter. Operator is, to this day, one song that actually puts a lump in my throat.
Slowhand Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 Err, unless we're going by registration date.
