In honor of the final game at Yankee Stadium, which I attended Sunday night, I am offering this week's nominations as a tribute to 2 great Yankee legends:

Phil Rizzuto, the Yankee Hall of Fame shortstop turned announcer, whose distinctive voice and style was featured on:

Paradise by the Dashboard Light-Meat Loaf (1978)

and Yogi Berra, the Yankee Hall of Fame catcher, still cracking his legendary one-liners (now known as Yogiisms), the most famous of which inspired It Ain't Over 'til It's Over-Lenny Kravitz (1991)

And I am impressed by a number of other baseball-related tunes this week:

Ty Cobb - Soundgarden (1996)

I never knew we were allowed to nominate cover versions of songs after the original has already made it in. :coolio:

There are several songs that have made it into the TT for multiple artists:

Cry Baby-Janis Joplin & Garnet Mimms

I Heard It Through the Grapevine-CCR & Marvin Gaye

If I Were a Carpenter-Bobby Darin & Small Faces

Layla-Derek & the Dominoes, and Eric Clapton (solo)

Mr. Tambourine Man-Byrds & Bob Dylan

She's Not There-Zombies & Santana

Walk This Way-Aerosmith & Run-D.M.C. f/ Steve Tyler & Joe Perry

With a Little Help from My Friends-Beatles & Joe Cocker

Yes, but only I Heard It Through the Grapevine made it to #1 with both artists :) Which song will be the first to become #1 three times with different artists??

Bang on The Drum All Day - Todd Rundgren

I Got The Feelin' - James Brown & The Famous Flames (1968)

Any fans of the Cosby Show will recognize the James Brown song. It was featured in one of the episodes where the kids lip-synched on the steps for their grandparents.

Oh, and could someone please hook me up with YouTube? Thanks!!

'77 it is cj, thanks! :)

Two songs unknown to me that I'm really liking this week:

Shawna & phil, if you don't know it, take a listen. The band are local San Diego boys, and it's very nice song, I like it!

When I hear this one, I scarcely know what to do with myself:

"Righteously" - Lucinda Williams

Very nice indeed b-f
