OLD 55
Well, our daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren just left. I was showing my son-in-law, Tony, our Top Ten, and he said "why didn't you nominate Bob Dylan's version of All I Really Want To Do, and I said "because it's bloody awful. He even does a bit of a yodel in it". Tony said "you would have gotten more votes", and I replied "undoubtedly - but it's still bloody awful". OLD 55
I don't like the yodeling part either. I prefer The Four Seasons' version. Good on you Lars. Tony reckons it's NOT yodelling, so I'm glad someone else agrees it is. No, I've never heard the Four Seasons' version though. And Joe, I don't mind Cher's (with Sonny) version. bazooka
1. Compared To What - Les McCann & Eddie Harris .. As a rule, I don't much care for Jazz, but this is one of the exceptions to the rule. In another time and space, this broadened my definition of what's "cool". 2. Tobacco Road - The Nashville Teens .. The piano ( John Hawken) in this song knocks me out! 3. Alley Oop - The Hollywood Argyles .. Another super one-hit. If you'll jump though a couple small hoops, you can hear it here free. Like Alley Oop, I "lived way back a long time ago". 4. YYZ – Rush 5. Get Rythym - Johnny Cash 6. Tell Me - The Rolling Stones .. "I hear the knock on my door that never comes, I hear the telephone that hasn't rung " 7. Come Dancing - The Kinks 8 Don't Bring Me Down - Electric Light Orchestra 9. Steppin' Out - Joe Jackson .. I had Down By The River - Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young here, but since it's basically Neil Young's show in this case, and since Neil Young's version with Crazy Horse has already made the Top Ten, I changed my mind. 10.Smooth Operator – Sade

OLD 55
Thanks Dappled. Very interesting as always I didn't know E.C.'s 'Lay Down Sally' had been nominated before, or I would have put 'I Shot The Sheriff'. That was my first choice, but I couldn't decide which version to use - Clapton's or Bob Marley's. I like them both. .................................................. Tell Me (You're Coming Back) - The Rolling Stones will probably make #1. So we've had Stones, Beatles, Who, Pink Floyd nominations this time. I reckon that makes it 'open house' next Ten ! One of my nominations will be a Beatles' song.
