1. Compared To What - Les McCann & Eddie Harris .. As a rule, I don't much care for Jazz, but this is one of the exceptions to the rule. In another time and space, this broadened my definition of what's "cool".

2. Tobacco Road - The Nashville Teens .. The piano ( John Hawken) in this song knocks me out!

3. Alley Oop - The Hollywood Argyles .. Another super one-hit. If you'll jump though a couple small hoops, you can hear it here free. Like Alley Oop, I "lived way back a long time ago".

I didn't know E.C.'s 'Lay Down Sally' had been nominated before, or I would have put 'I Shot The Sheriff'. That was my first choice, but I couldn't decide which version to use - Clapton's or Bob Marley's. I like them both.
