SoulGirl Posted November 6, 2004 Report Posted November 6, 2004 when i was 15 a schoolfriend made me a mix tape with jeff buckley's version of leonard cohen's hallelujah on it. i wore the tape out rewinding back to listen to it over and over and over again, always making sure to get that little sigh at the beginning. beautiful. i asked my parents for the album 'grace' for christmas and made my whole family listen to the 23-second note in the middle - 'halleluuuuuuuuuuuuu....' i now own everything ever released both pre- and posthumously on cd and listen to him everyday (singing along with him is better than any vocal training) what drives me mad (although hypocritically i know) is people who go 'oh yeah, jeff buckley... hallelujah right... he's amazing' and yet don't put in the time to listen to his other stuff, exspecially his own songs which are divine.
