There are the few odd situations where a single was released prior to the album, or cases of there being a single and no album release at all (mostly oldies), but in general it's album release year. Yeah, that thing he did with his neck, during a duet with Toni Tannelle, was sort of distubing to watch. You should have linked the duet (and original released) version with Elton John.
