OldBitty Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 Looking for songs that are about being with someone, but loving someone else. Along the general lines of the following two songs: "Stay" by Sugarland "Holding Her, Loving You" by Clay Walker Any other suggestions (besides "Lips Of An Angel" by Hinder)?
johnnyguitar Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 The classic (and I know a bit about this) is 'Torn Between Two Lovers' by Mary MacGregor, although my personal favourite is 'Be My Downfall by Del Amitri. The bus is pulling out and I guess Id better go Before I make a grave mistake and let my feelings show And twenty miles away she waits alone for me But when I try to picture her youre the one I see And in another situation I could put up a fight But you will be my downfall tonight So the night is coming down, drowning us in blue And it all points towards the things we know we shouldnt do And as I look at you and I fall under your spell Well I know I should be thinking of her lying there herself And when faced with temptation you know a man should stand and fight But you will be my downfall tonight Be my downfall be my great regret be the one girl That Ill never forget Be my undoing be my slow road to ruin tonight So the bus is pulling out and Im grounded here with you And I want to say the sweet things babe Ive always wanted to So tell me now the tail-lights have gone out of sight Baby wont you be my downfall.... .....once again tonight.

Uncle Joe Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 I Found Someone Of My Own by Free Movement I got up this morning While I was having my coffee My woman came in, sat down by my side With tears in her eyes She said Ive a confession to make. I said Woman, speak whats on your mind. She said Ive found somebody new To take your place. I said dont feel so all alone Ive found someone of my own. All those lonely nights You left me all alone My true love would call And talk to me on the phone. I said Woman, if thats the way its gotta be Then darlin, dont you worry about me. She said Ive found somebody new To take your place. I said dont feel so all alone Ive found someone of my own. I got up from the table Reached down and wiped the tears From her face I put out my cigarette Turned and walked away She said Ive found somebody new To take your place. I said dont feel so all alone Ive found someone of my own.

skybluesky Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 (If Loving You Is Wrong) I Don't Want to Be Right~Luther Ingram If loving you is wrong I don't wanna be right If being right means being without you I'd rather live a wrong doing life Your mama and daddy say it's a shame It's a downright disgrace Long as I got you by my side I don't care what your people say Your friends tell you there's no future in loving a married man If I can't see you when I want to I'll see you when I can If loving you is wrong I don't wanna be right If loving you is wrong I don't wanna be right Am I wrong to fall so deeply in love with you knowing I got a wife and two little children depending on me too And am I wrong to hunger for the gentleness of your touch knowing I got somebody else at home who needs me just as much And are you wrong to fall in love with a married man And am I wrong trying to hold on to the best thing I ever had If loving you is wrong I don't wanna be right If loving you is wrong I don't wanna be right Are you wrong to give your love to a married man And am I wrong trying to hold on to the best thing I ever had If loving you is wrong I don't wanna be right If loving you is wrong I don't wanna be right I don't wanna be right if it means sleeping alone at night I don't wanna be right if it means coming home at night I don't wanna, I don't wanna I don't wanna never, never, never be right AND Secret Lovers~Atlantic Starr Here we are the two of us together Taking this crazy chance to be all alone we both know that we should not be together, cause if they found out it could mess up, both our happy homes. I hate to think about us all meeting up together, as soon as I looked at you it would show on my face. Then they'll know that we've been loving each other. They can never no, oh no, we can't leave a trace. Secret Lovers that's what we are, we shouldn't be together but we can't let it go, oh no, cause we love each other so. Sittin at home while I do nothing all day but I think about you and hope that your ok. Hoping you'll call before anyone gets home I'll wait anxiously, alone...by the phone. How could something so wrong be so right. I wish we didn't have to keep our love out of sight Living two lives just ain't easy at all but we gotta hang on and after fall. Secret lovers that's what we are trying so hard to hide the way we feel cause we both belong to someone else but we can't let it go, cause what we feel is oh so real so real....so real... You and me, are we fair is this cruel, or do we care. can they tell what's in our minds maybe they've had secret love all of the time In the middle of makin love we notice the time we both get nervous cause it's way after nine. Even though we hate it, we know it's time that we go we gotta be careful, so that no one will know. Secret lovers, that's what we are, trying so hard to hide the way we feel, cause we both belong to someone else, but we can't let it go cause what we feel is oh so real so real...so real....so real....so real! AND Part-time Lover~Stevie Wonder Call up, ring once, hang up the phone To let me know you made it home Don't want nothing to be wrong with part-time lover If she's with me I'll blink the lights To let you know tonight's the night For me and you my part-time lover We are undercover passion on the run Chasing love up against the sun We are strangers by day, lovers by night Knowing it's so wrong, but feeling so right If I'm with friends and we should meet Just pass me by, don't even speak Know the word's "discreet" when part-time lovers But if there's some emergency Have a male friend to ask for me So then she won't peek its really you my part-time lover We are undercover passion on the run Chasing love up against the sun We are strangers by day, lovers by night Knowing it's so wrong, but feeling so right (Repeat) I've got something that I must tell Last night someone rang our doorbell And it was not you my part-time lover And then a man called our exchange But didn't want to leave his name I guess that two can play the game Of part-time lovers You and me, part-time lovers But, she and he, part-time lovers

edna Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 May I post a song in French? It´s sung by Juliette Gréco and it´s called "Marions les".

Wayne D. Posted February 23, 2008 Report Posted February 23, 2008 This one is pretty straighforward, I recommend the Barry Young verion, great song! One Has My Name (The Other Has My Heart) Jerry Wallace Written by Eddie Dean, Lorene Dean, and Hal Blair Wallace's version not released as a single but Barry Young put it on the Pop chart at # 13 in 1966 Additionally, found on Country chart in 1948 by Jimmy Wakely (#1) and Eddie Dean (#11); in 1949 by Bob Eberly at # 8; and in 1969 by Jerry Lee Lewis at #3. One has my name, the other has my heart With one I'll remain, that's how my heartaches start One has brown eyes, the other's eyes are blue To one I am tied, to the other I am true One has my love, the other only me But what good is love to a heart that can't be free? So I'll go on livin' my life just the same While one has my heart, the other has my name One has brown eyes, the other's eyes are blue To one I am tied, to the other I am true One has my love, the other only me But what good is love to a heart that can't be free? If I could live over, my life I would change The one who has my heart would also have my name
Shawna Posted February 24, 2008 Report Posted February 24, 2008 here's a really cheesy right-to-the-point song. Written by Neil Diamond. (Look Out) Here Comes Tomorrow Monkees Look out, here comes tomorrow, That's when I'll have to choose. How I wish I could borrow, Someone else's shoes. Mary, oh what a sweet girl, Lips like strawberry pie. Sandra, the long hair and pig tails, Can't make up my mind. I see all kinds of sorrow, Wish I only loved one. Look out, here comes tomorrow, Oh how I wish tomorrow would never come Told them both that I loved them, Said it, and it was true. But I can't have both of them Don't know what to do. I see all kinds of sorrow, Wish I only loved one. Look out, here comes tomorrow, Oh how I wish tomorrow would never come I see all kinds of sorrow, Wish I only loved one. Look out, here comes tomorrow, Oh how I wish tomorrow would never come
