_Laurie_
Harvest Moon ~ Mr. Neil Young Come a little bit closer Hear what I have to say Just like children sleepin We could dream this night away. But theres a full moon risin Lets go dancin in the light We know where the musics playin Lets go out and feel the night. Because Im still in love with you I want to see you dance again Because Im still in love with you On this harvest moon. When we were strangers I watched you from afar When we were lovers I loved you with all my heart. But now its gettin late And the moon is climbin high I want to celebrate See it shinin in your eye. Because Im still in love with you I want to see you dance again Because Im still in love with you On this harvest moon.

edna
"100 Years Ago" - The Rolling Stones Went out walkin' through the wood the other day And the world was a carpet laid before me The buds were bursting and the air smelled sweet and strange It seemed about a hundred years ago Mary and I, we would sit upon a gate Just gazin' at some dragon in the sky What tender days we had no secrets hid away Well, it seemed about a hundred years ago Now all my friends is wearing worried smiles Living out a dream of what they was Don't you think it's sometimes wise not to grow up? Went out walkin' through the wood the other day Can't you see the furs in my forehead? What tender days, we had no secrets hid away Now it seems about a hundred years ago Now if you see me drinkin' bad red wine Don't worry 'bout this man that you love Don't you think it's sometimes wise not to grow up? You're gonna kiss and say good-bye, yeah, I warn ya You're gonna kiss and say good-bye, yeah, I warn ya You're gonna kiss and say good-bye, oh Lord, I warn ya Please excuse me while I hide away Call me lazy bones Ain't got no time to waste away Lazy bones ain't got no time to waste away Don't you think, don't you think, it's just about time to hide away? Yeah, yeah! Oh kiss me, kiss me Kiss me baby, good-bye, yeah Good-bye, yeah, good-bye, yeah, good-bye, yeah Come on, kiss me Yeah, your gonna kiss me baby - bye I warn ya, I warn ya, I warn ya I warn ya, I warn ya! Jill
It's been really cold lately for Georgia, so here's a little warmth... "Girls In Their Summer Clothes"--Bruce Springsteen Well, the streetlights shine down on Blessing Avenue Lovers they walk by, holding hands two by two A breeze crosses the porch, bicycle spokes spin 'round My jackets on, I'm out the door And tonight I'm gonna burn this town down The girls in their summer clothes In the cool of the evening light The girls in their summer clothes, pass me by A kid's rubber ball smacks Off the gutter 'neath the lamp light Big bank clock chimes Off go the sleepy front porch lights Downtown the stores alight as the evening's underway Things been a little tight But I know their gonna turn my way And the girls in their summer clothes In the cool of the evening light The girls in their summer clothes, pass me by Frankie's diner, an old friend on the edge of town The neon sign spinning round Like a cross over the lost and found The fluorescent lights flick over Pop's Grill Shaniqua brings the coffee and asks "Fill?" and says "Penny for your thoughts now my boy, Bill" She went away, she cut me like a knife Hello beautiful thing, maybe you could save my life In just a glance, down here on magic street Loves a fool's dance And I ain't got much sense, but I still got my feet The girls in their summer clothes In the cool of the evening light The girls in their summer clothes, pass me by The girls in their summer clothes In the cool of the evening light The girls in their summer clothes, pass me by

blind-fitter
Back When I Was Four - Jeffrey Lewis Back when I was 4 and I knew the name of every dinosaur I knew how to read ROM comic books My babysitter said I was really smart When the lights went out everything changed The radio music made me feel strange And I had a real bad dream about a gorilla in the bathroom Back when I was 6 I took everything real serious And I thought that every song that came on the radio Was referring to strange sexual acts Because they thought I wouldn't know the facts And being small is hard and no one ever tells you how And back when I was 8 I'd sit outside on an old milk crate And look out at the world from the stoop across the street The boomboxes and the hot concrete And every Halloween they hung A million rubber skeletons across ninth street. Back when I was 12 or so I swear to god I never felt so low Everyone but me was making out and eating cookies I had more than my brain could stand I threw my life in a garbage can I felt so weird I had to disappear In crying suicide disease. At 15 getting stoned felt good and it sent me back to childhood And nothing ever mattered to me more than that. But then 16 became eclipse My brain became apocalypse I was lost and found and I've never been the same. Back when I was 22 I left the best thing that I knew and I gave it up for fortune and for fame I played like I didn't know how I shocked the world I wowed the crowd But I deserved more than what they gave Back when I was 27 still nothing had been forgiven Clay turns into rock and rock just sits So sitting on a crowded beach I'd pretend I was a leach And stick to things here and there for a little bit Back when I was 31 I knew I'd become what I'd become Nothing left to reveal And nowhere else to turn So shocked and withered dumb and bitter And in need of a babysitter I'd gladly let my hand fall off and burn burn burn Back when I turned the big 4-0 I realized just how much there was to go And I started to think that being alone forever Wasn't where it was at So I pulled my head out of the window And I taught myself how to love real fast I started talking about painting With a woman in the laundromat Back when I was 50 and my first wife had just left me I felt okay and I sang my daughter Funny little songs And just when I thought the best was past I fell in love for real at last And it didn't even matter that it had taken me so long Back when I was 63 the public rediscovered me My comic books and records had all become rare cult-collector items Both my parents were deceased So they didn't see my records get re-released And I got a dog for the first time in my life Back when I was 74 my dog died and I got two more I still felt really good about my daughter And also about my girlfriend And I'd sing and draw a little bit But mostly I'd wake up early and sit And hang out with the puppies and wish that I could live forever Back when I was 87 my grandson had just turned eleven My woman was dead And my dogs were getting pretty old My body didn't work quite like it should But overall things were pretty good I was getting decent royalties from the reissued comic books and records Back when I was 106 My only friend Was one goldfish Everyone I ever knew was dead and gone The goldfish never had a name And the neighbors thought I was insane And I flushed it down the toilet when I saw it floating upside down* Back when I was 128 I would sit outside on an old milk crate And look out at the world from the stoop across the street The boomboxes and the hot concrete And every Halloween they hung A million rubber skeletons across 9th street Every Halloween they hung A million rubber skeletons Every Halloween they hung A million rubber skeletons Every Halloween they hung A million rubber skeletons
Farin
Teddy Picker ~ Arctic Monkeys Despair up to the point where they provoke The punchline before they have told the joke, Can see your desperation to be seen, Staring at the television screen. Despair up to the point where they provoke You to tell the ******* punchline before you have told the joke. Sorry sunshine, it doesn't exist, It wasn't in the top 100 list. And it's the thousandth time and it's even bolder, Don't be surprised when you get bent over, They told ya, but you were dying for it. She saw it and she grabbed it and it wasn't what it seemed, The kids all dream of making it, whatever that means. Another variation on a theme, A tangle on the television and the magazine. D'you reckon that they do it for a joke? D'you reckon that they make 'em take an oath? That says "We are defenders Of any poseur or professional pretender around." When did your list replace the twist and turn? And the fist, replace the kiss? Don't concern us with your bollocks, I don't want your prayers, Save it for the morning after. And it's the thousandth time and it's even bolder, Don't be surprised when you get bent over, He told ya, that you were gagging for it. Lets have a game on the Teddy Picker, Not quick enough, can I have it quicker? Already thick and you're getting thicker. Lets have a game on the Teddy Picker, Not quick enough, can I have it quicker? Already thick and you're getting thicker. presuming that all things are equal, Who'd want to be men of the people When there's people like you? skybluesky
Travis - Sing Baby, you've been going so crazy Lately, nothing seems to be going right Solo, why do you have to get so low You're so... You've been waiting in the sun too long But if you sing, sing, sing, sing, sing, sing For the love you bring won't mean a thing Unless you sing, sing, sing, sing Colder, crying on your shoulder Hold her, and tell her everythings gonna be fine Surely, you've been going to early Hurry, cause no one's gonna be stopped But if you sing, sing, sing, sing, sing, sing For the love you bring won't mean a thing Unless you sing, sing, sing, sing Baby, there's something going on today But I say nothing, nothing, nothing, Nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing {Chorus}
Farin
Guitar Man ~ Bread (but I'm listening to Cake's version) Who draws the crowd and plays so loud, Baby it's the guitar man. Who's gonna steal the show, you know Baby it's the guitar man, He can make you laugh, he can make you cry He will bring you down, then he'll get you high Somethin' keeps him goin', miles and miles a day To find another place to play. Night after night who treats you right, Baby it's the guitar man Who's on the radio, you go listen To the guitar man Then he comes to town, and you see his face, And you think you might like to take his place Somethin' keeps him driftin' miles and miles away Searchin' for the songs to play. Then you listen to the music and you like to sing along, You want to get the meaning out of each and ev'ry song Then you find yourself a message and some words to call your own And take them home. He can make you love, he can get you high He will bring you down, then he'll make you cry Somethin' keeps him movin', but no one seems to know What it is that makes him go. Then the lights begin to flicker and the sound is getting dim The voice begins to falter and the crowds are getting thin But he never seems to notice he's just got to find Another place to play, Anyway got to play, anyway got to play.
