Shawna Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 I saw Juno this weekend and thought it definitely lived up to the hype. Great flick. A little weird, because I don't know any kids that talk like that! My son told me he liked the way they talked in the movie. But a good story, and very strong character. I also saw "There Will Be Blood," and liked it so much. Daniel Day-Lewis plays a self-absorbed schmuck so very well. At any rate, I liked it much much better than "No Country."
The Seeker Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 She did get a bit better towards the end, yes. I liked Bleeker though, even though he was a bit too passive for me... then again, the movie wasn't about him as such. I;m not easy to please
Uncle Joe Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 Uh, Fin, please. No self-serving advertising here.
Ombre Vivante Posted April 22, 2008 Report Posted April 22, 2008 Yeah, I almost forgot that she was pregnant and that the other couple couldn't have kids... which seemed to have been intentionally left out by the end in order to drive the point that Juno "came of age." If this passes for "good" screenwriting, editing, and directing (with music score non-existent/forgettable), I'd hate to see what they'd think is "bad"
Uncle Joe Posted April 22, 2008 Report Posted April 22, 2008 The fact that the husband from the "other couple" turned her world upside down by opting out of the deal (and the marriage) was the trigger for her change. It was the key to her "coming of age" and to the movie's ending. I'd be curious to hear your opinion of the screenwriting, editing and direction of No Country For Old Men.
Ombre Vivante Posted April 23, 2008 Report Posted April 23, 2008 I'm piqued by the little that I have seen and read of No Country.... I'm going out on a limb in thinking I will probably like it - and the funny thing is that a couple of people have already recommended it to me based on what they know I like. Same goes for There Will Be Blood. I've only seen the trailers for that one. I'm waaaay behind on current movies.
Batman Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 The last movie I saw was Juno. I really have hardly anything positive or negative to say about it. Not a whole lot to like or to dislike. So I guess a "C" is a fair rating.
miamisammy29 Posted April 26, 2008 Report Posted April 26, 2008 I just watched "Fight Club". First rule of fight club...don't watch "Fight Club". Second rule of fight club....don't tell anybody you watched "Fight Club".
Batman Posted April 26, 2008 Report Posted April 26, 2008 Oh man, I loved Fight Club. Although, I saw it when I was 16 or so, and based on my memories of the movie, 16 seems like the perfect age to see Fight Club.
invisible_r Posted April 26, 2008 Report Posted April 26, 2008 yeah, same here, I loved Fight Club, one of my favourite moves. You might be right about the age, although I've seen it several times since and still love it
Farin Posted April 26, 2008 Author Report Posted April 26, 2008 Fight Club is an AWSOME movie PS you just violated rule #2 sammy
Ombre Vivante Posted April 26, 2008 Report Posted April 26, 2008 I kinda liked the photography and colour scheme in Fight Club. Sure, it's been done before by the likes of Ingmar Bergman (Persona) and Suzuki Seijun (Kenka Ereji), but Fincher made it look so different that it's worth another look.
The Seeker Posted April 26, 2008 Report Posted April 26, 2008 I watched 21 today, and I really liked it for the most part.... but why why why does there always have to be some sort of love story involved? Why can't people just count cards, or shoot rival gangs, or chase the police down the highway or rob banks or whatever without falling in love with the next-best girl? Completely unnecessary! It just interrupts the movie
bluesboy Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 Across The Universe gets a 9.5/10 from me!! A first rate musical.
Lucky Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 Across the Universe is wonderful! I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a film this much. The use of the music, the storyline, and the use of the events of the day, all made for a great musical. I didn't want it to end. 10/10!
Foolonthehill Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 I just saw Juno. I loved it. Best movie I've seen in a VERY long time.
invisible_r Posted April 28, 2008 Report Posted April 28, 2008 forgetting sarah marshall: was pleasantly surprised, it was really funny! i loved seeing veronica mars in a movie, the lead actor was very funny, and russell brand's character was basically him! 8/10 30 days of night: entertaining, interesting twist on the vampire theme but like most horror films, a lot of it was pretty silly! 5.5/10
scott Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 I agree with you on sarah marshall! I was quite surprised with the quality, and the amount of laughing I wound up doing.
skybluesky Posted May 1, 2008 Report Posted May 1, 2008 I just watched "Fight Club". First rule of fight club...don't watch "Fight Club". Second rule of fight club....don't tell anybody you watched "Fight Club". For those who love bunnies and fighting
Farin Posted May 4, 2008 Author Report Posted May 4, 2008 Chaplin 9/10 really enjoyed that one, Robert Downey Jr makes a convincing Chaplin and in a supporting role: Kevin Kline as Douglas Fairbanks
