Jenny
I don't know much about horses, Lea, but I work with a lot of people who do, so I can find out something for you, if you need. Lea
Thank you Jenny. I finally figured it out. I already thought I knew the answer but someone misled me and so I had to double check what I though I knew. We're selling one of our horses and someone is trying to confuse me with silly questions I solved the whole problem by just sending a pic of her linage chart

Steel2Velvet
Any of you young computer lions who are able to write programs, have an entrepreneurial bent and would like to make money with your skills, PT me. I will share an idea I came up with tonight, that should be simple to accomplish and extremely marketable. Have not done a comprehensive search to see if the idea is already taken, but have not seen anything like it among the software available where I shop. I just don't know how to write programs, or I'd do it all myself. I believe it's that good!
The Seeker
This is not very nice... the fanciest thing I've ever written was some sort of basic browser widget, but you still got me curious

Shawna
anybody know how to get rid of "System Security" that's a trojan I think that downloaded itself last night when my son was on myspace. My PC is all jacked up and Trend Micro is not taking care of the problem, which I don't understand... How can I get rid of it without having to pay bunches of money to download another software for malware? I'm having one of the worst mornings of my life. Shawna
thanks... I'll give those a try when Trend is done running yet another scan. It's taking forever. I'm so frustrated. I get on the phone with their support and it's someone with such a heavy accent I don't understand them, and their earpiece is so far away from their mouth that I can barely hear them too. I don't understand why the scan isn't taking care of this!
Farin
well a test with avira will take some time too, that's just how they work ... hopefully it will find something though
Shawna
second question of the morning... does anyone know anything about imovie, or a video with a .mov extension that needs to be converted to, for example, avi? I have a 60 second piece that needs converting, and it needs to be right away...

Shawna
O...M...G... This day is the most stressful I can remember in recent history for me. I've tried both those sites... the virus/trojan/whatever is still here, and Trend Micro had me go to safe mode and download something and run another scan, then that didn't work, so they had me DL a hijacker thing with a log and then send the log to them so they could analyze it for 24 hours, meanwhile I'm dealing with this popup every 60 seconds or so, and knowing that it's opening up all sorts of other viruses, but Trend says don't worry it'll all be taken care of when I call them tomorrow for the analysis and they talk me through removing all the alien files... And the movie thing... I tried twice with that, and it wouldn't work. So I called a friend who knows an eensy bit about it, and I tried to open my file myself and couldn't, so that's how I discovered it's corrupted, and I don't have another file for it. I'm having a meltdown on a worldwide Web site. Edit: my friend was able to upload my video to the site for me (no, it's not a porn) from his computer, since he had a copy that wasn't corrupted. So... that's one thing I don't have to stress over anymore (hopefully). but these annoying popups are making me insane. Farin
oh dear, that doesn't sound good after you've cleaned your system make sure to get some realtime protection, or update it if you already have one now... and don't let your son click anything he wants
Shawna
Isn't Trend Micro Internet Security real-time protection? That's what I have, and I just downloaded the most recent updates this morning...
Farin
That can very well be, I'm not familiar with that program and if it is, then the second factor I mentioned is all the more important
Lea
I know this is probably one of the first things you did Shawna but did you dump all your cookies and temp files? Also, if you knew the name of the file giving you the problem you might be able to go into safe mode, do a search for it and remove it yourself. That might at least stop the pop up till you can get to the root of it. Sometimes some of the virus programs out there can't remove it but if you use safe mode you can. I've gotten rid of a few problems that way.
Shawna
Trend Micro scans my computer and removes cookies every single day, and (usually) catches viruses and quarantines or removes them, as well. This is just a particularly nasty one. Lea, they did have me go into Safe mode and install one of their "background" search programs, because they said that way the virus/trojan can't find them, and it will be more successful. I then did a scan, and it didn't help at all. That's when I got back on the phone and they sent me the hijacker thing. I've since run three scans (plus the hijackero one) and turned off the computer (I'm on my laptop now) and will call them tomorrow for more instructions after they've had their 24 hours to analyze the log. I bet there's some drooling dork out there somewhere reading this, grinning maniacally and playing with himself gleefully reading about the power he is able to wield over people like me. RonJonSurfer
Trend Micro sucks. I had it on my Dell laptop and it allowed a severe virus infect my computer. It was hopeless. I called Dell to help walk me through the solution and it didn't work. I had to bring it to the Geek Squad at Best Buy to fix. Them Geeks ain't cheap. $200 plus bucks to get me back to normal. normal included wiping out all my data. I think it got infected when one of my kids used the laptop and went on some entertainment site. I told Dell I never had a virus using McAfee or Symantec. They recommended Trend Micro when i bought the computer. I saved money then, but lost it on the back end. Then last month, the same exact situation happened to my brother in law. Dell laptop...Trend Micro and he got the same virus. We fixed his by restoring back to the beginning. He had no critical data to worry about. My recommendation to all with Trend Micro is get rid of it or you'll be paying someday too.
