TheTallOne Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 My main man Jon Papelbon blew a save last night. I stared at the TV for about five minutes and then left the room. Big Pape doesn't blow saves. He's not Mariano Rivera.
miamisammy29 Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 Yeah, I watched that one, too. I blame Varitek for calling an 0-2 fastball right down the middle to that rookie pup. He should have called for the forkball...three times in a row. It's okay, though, I'd still have Papelbon's babies....unless he blows a couple more like that one. Timlin did alright covering last night, but he's still shaky. And OKajima is OK. GO SAWX!!
RonJonSurfer Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 So much for The Yankees spending less and developing players....I think this definition fits a guy like Roger.... A mercenary is a person who takes part in an armed conflict who is not a national of a Party to the conflict and "is motivated to take part in the hostilities essentially by the desire for private gain and, in fact, is promised, by or on behalf of a Party to the conflict, material compensation substantially in excess of that promised or paid to combatants of similar ranks and functions in the armed forces of that Party".
Kevin Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 Lucky's got him . Glad he showed his colors before too long as she was wastin' a bench seat and I recommended dropping him long ago ( which will likely backfire ) . Clemmons has had it ! He'll be lucky to get through 5 full innings ... }
miamisammy29 Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 Granted he has lost a little, but he's still the best of all time. I predict about seven wins for him. That comes to a "pricy" 4 millions dollars per win....a BARGAIN considering how much they got out of Carl Pavano (5 wins, 40 million dollars).
c_s_1987 Posted May 19, 2007 Report Posted May 19, 2007 The FA Cup final is on as I write this. Do any of the Premier League fans here like Manchester United or Chelsea? I sure don't.
Farin Posted May 19, 2007 Report Posted May 19, 2007 I'm not a Premier League fan per se, but I don't care for either much also today is the the German Championship is decided, Stuttgart and Schalke still have chances...
The Seeker Posted May 19, 2007 Report Posted May 19, 2007 Neither ManU nor Chelsea really move me... Some of my family's living in Stuttgart... all my cousins are downtown right now.
TheLizard Posted May 19, 2007 Report Posted May 19, 2007 Apparently in Roger Clemens' first start this year in the minor league team he's training in, some 23 year old kid ripped one of his pitches over the left field wall. This could also go in the "What sweetens your coffee?" thread.
Lucky Posted May 20, 2007 Report Posted May 20, 2007 The FA Cup final is on as I write this. Do any of the Premier League fans here like Manchester United or Chelsea? I sure don't. Because of family affiliations, I watch, and have been taught that we do not like Chelsea or ManU. It's LFC or nothing.
Rayzor Posted May 20, 2007 Report Posted May 20, 2007 I love watching English Premier League games when they show them over here across the water. I don't exactly get the chance to choose what games to watch as they broadcast 2 or 3 games through the morning(6 am start our time). But I don't care for either team really... I tend to cheer for... Tottenham I liked them since I was a teen-ager, don't remember why!
phil Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 A little baseball trivia. These three Hall Of Famers began and ended their careers in the same city, but on different teams. Willie Mays - began New York Giants ended New York Mets Hank Aaron - began Milwaukee Braves ended Milwaukee Brewers Babe Ruth - began Boston Red Sox ended Boston Braves
Rayzor Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 cool phil! I didn't know that... of course I don't follow baseball much. Too long with the pitcher screwing around for 20 minutes before each pitch. And it goes for 9 innings!
DiggsUK Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 Never mind the Munics and Chelsea, the big game is tomorrow night - the mighty Reds against AC Milan in Athens. If you have soul, you'll be rooting for Liverpool!
c_s_1987 Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 Go Liverpool! I support both Liverpool and Aston Villa. Oh, and Northampton Town in League One. I just can't choose one team, even though I can in other sports.
Farin Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 you'll never see me rooting for any Italian team...
