rtstuff
I have been away from the board for a few days so I am glad it isn't too late to vote. Here goes. 1. Fortunate Son. Again this goes out to all of those of my generation who served in Viet Nam. 2. Indian Reservation. Some great keyboard tunes and dedicated to the Cherokee Nations. 3. Lonely Too Long. Felix and the boys hit a homerun with this one. 4. When A Man Loves a Woman. Beuatiful love song. 5. I Got You (I Feel Good) The king of soul James Brown. 6. Heart of Glass. A nice female act, Blondie. 7. Boys of Summer. I really like the MTV video of this one showing the young boy on the drums.. I assume this is meant to be a young Don Henley. 8. What a Wonderful World. A nice peaceful song of hope. 9. Fooled Around and Fell In Love. 10. Baker Street. A nice bluesy song. rtstuff "I'm no Senator's Son" CCR

OLD 55
Good on you Farin. That's a pretty good mix. Good to see Heart Of Glass make it as a re-nomination. Also Satchmo's What A Wonderful World (we loved it in Australia - twice, 20 years apart) and soul classic, When A Man Loves A Woman.
edna
At least, RHCP made it to a #10... there's some 90s/almost 2000 in the Top Ten!
OLD 55
FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION: EXTRACT FROM A PT I GOT RECENTLY BUT DIDN'T WANT TO PUT ON UNTIL AFTER THIS TOP TEN FINISHED ! I think it's silly some people are putting in "vote catchers" instead of songs they truly want to see in our own list. They might as well be nominated for the official Daily/Weekly Top 10 as they are mega-hits already. I know people don't do it on purpose, but you can tell when people are disappointed their songs don't make it or don't get any votes. We did start this as an "alternate" Top Ten, but I'd rather have it as Pop oriented rather than too way out. I'd be interested in your thoughts on this. The PT was a private one to me and (of course) will be treated as such.
edna
I think people are mostly nominating songs they love... I see many songs I never heard about before and I don't see the point in nominating "Thriller" just because it's been a big hit. This is our own hit-parade... I nominate the songs I have in my fave tapes or my mp3... of course, I also have "Stuck in the middle" or "Mrs. Robinson" among my favourite... katie_sane
I still think people should choose whatever songs they want. It doesn't matter if it is a mega hit that will be sure to garner a lot of votes. A lot of songs I like were mega hits, a lot I like weren't. I choose songs to nominate each week from my favourite artists. I don't even think about how successful they were when released. The only thing I tend to avoid is nominating a song by an artist if one by the same artist has already been nominated. This isn't a competition. There is no prize for your nomination going to number one. I think the less restrictions we have, the better! c_s_1987
Kashmir came second this week ( ), and I got equal second last week also. I promise I won't try to get the number one next week. For a second I thought CCR just joined The Beatles and Simon and Garfunkel to be the third act with three number ones, but then I noticed Have You Ever Seen The Rain only made number 2. Still, I hope no one nominates Bad Moon Rising, Down On The Corner etc anytime soon. Same goes with The Beatles, Stones and S+G, but feel free to nominate any obscure tracks from these artists.
