bluesboy Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 I need songs for my show on Friday, it's about songs with great rockin' horns. Depending on your playlist Sweet Jane... Knock On Wood - Eddie Floyd Born Under a Bad Sign - Albert King (14 day temporary audio file) I Can't Turn You Loose - Otis Redding Back On the Streets Again - Tower of Power (14 day temporary audio file) Penny Lane - Beatles Try a Little Tenderness - Otis Redding
Sweet Jane 61 Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 Tim...now you should know better than that, of course I will be playing some Springsteen/Clarence!
Sweet Jane 61 Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 Tim, I'm getting old but when it comes to music and Bruce, my mind is as young and sharp as yours!
bazooka Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 Just a reminder of some I mentioned previously in this thread. Domino Caravan Wild Night, etc. - Van Morrison Signed, Sealed, Delivered - Stevie Wonder The horns are not real up front in this one, but they are absolutely fantastic. And I don't think anyone's brought up Got To Get You Into My Life - The Beatles
Sweet Jane 61 Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 Thanks for the input everyone! Got my show all set for tomorrow, going to be fun.
bluesboy Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 Here's some more for you Sweet Jane - More Today Than Yesterday - Spiral Staircase Dance to the Music - Sly & the Family Stone Kind of a Drag - the Buckinghams Judy in Disguise (with Glasses) - John Fred & His Playboy Band Mercy, Mercy, Mercy - the Buckinghams Summer Day - Sly & the Family Stone Build Me Up Buttercup - the Foundations these can augment your list of Chicago and Blood, Sweat & Tears sides sorry I'm late...
Sweet Jane 61 Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 Thanks bluesy....you always come up with some great tunes!
johnnyguitar Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 If you promised me a mention I'd suggest 'Harden My Heart' by Quarteflash. Classic 80's hit, and all the better for the stonking saxaphone being played by a woman...cool guitar solo too, but it's mostly the sax for me.
Sweet Jane 61 Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 Nothing against you johnnyguitar, but that song makes me cringe. Ever since I heard when it hit the airwaves...just can't listen to it. But thanks for the suggestion.
Sweet Jane 61 Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 It will be on the show Laurie, love that song!

One of my faves....must have been the state of my heart at the time Still a great guitar solo though, way ahead of its time in terms of composition as a top 100 hit. Has anyone suggested 'Will You' by Hazel Oconnor. Massive 20 week top 2o hit in the UK...no ideas what it did in the states...superb Sax solo is most of the song. I'll take my Quarteflash album and leave, quietly... (PS Still think you are wrong. Women play great sax and Harden My Heart, great tune...try it again! ) Edited March 21, 2008 by Guest
_Laurie_ Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 It will be on the show Laurie, love that song!

Levis Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 Mediate by INXS has a sax solo too And some Chili Pepper songs have Flea playing trumpet since that was the first instrument he took up. Was quite the prodigy too, I believe. Taste The Pain off Mother's Milk (1989) and even Hump de Bump from Stadium Arcadium
