Batman Posted June 2, 2005 Report Posted June 2, 2005 I was shocked to not find this somewhere in the Songfacts Forum archives. My favorite one is Roundabout.
Aunt_Acid Posted June 3, 2005 Report Posted June 3, 2005 I like the synthesizer solo on the song Delta by Delta. Also the synth solo on Karn Evil 9, Lucky Man, Trilogy. Also, there's a giant piano solo Keith Emerson did live, on their Then And Now CD, simply entitled: "Piano Improvisations". The single most amazing thing I've ever heard. I also like the Fender Rhodes solo on Sheep.
RonJonSurfer Posted June 4, 2005 Report Posted June 4, 2005 Many, but I love everything about "Light My Fire".
EasyRider Posted June 4, 2005 Report Posted June 4, 2005 The solo on Procol Harum's "A Whiter Shade Of Pale" is cool
SoulGirl Posted June 4, 2005 Report Posted June 4, 2005 ooh good call! my boy met their guitarist at a music messe a few months back, said he was a pretty cool guy!
miamisammy29 Posted June 4, 2005 Report Posted June 4, 2005 If piano counts, then it's "Burn Down The Mission" by Sir Elton John.
Brad_M Posted June 4, 2005 Report Posted June 4, 2005 I always liked the keyboard solo in "Never Been Any Reason" by Head East.
jman14141414 Posted June 4, 2005 Report Posted June 4, 2005 Break On Through(To The Other Side)-The Doors Not the solo but the keyboard riff to Alabama Song(Whisky Bar)-The Doors Welcome To The Machine-Pink Floyd

Factoidsfor$100,Alex Posted June 9, 2005 Report Posted June 9, 2005 Two of my favorites are: -The piano solo in "School" by Supertramp from the Crime of the Century album, and; -Billy Joel's "Prelude to Angry Young Man".
CanAm Posted June 11, 2005 Report Posted June 11, 2005 I agree with Factoids about the piano solo in "School" by Supertramp. I also love the piano work by Rick Wakeman on his Criminal Record album, particularly on the songs Crime of Passion and Birdman of Alcatraz.
johnnyguitar Posted June 13, 2005 Report Posted June 13, 2005 Anything with Mike Barson (?) pianist on Alladin Sane, Life on Mars etc. awesome atonal, chromatic and still melodic. ::
Danielj Posted June 14, 2005 Report Posted June 14, 2005 sweet piano solo in The Otherside For MArtha instrumental by the smashing pumpkins. its on the adore demos. Light My Fire, obviously dont like the song, but i love that organ solo
Jimmy1104 Posted June 14, 2005 Report Posted June 14, 2005 I was shocked to not find this somewhere in the Songfacts Forum archives. My favorite one is Roundabout. Rick Wakeman played keyboard for Yes and in my opinion is the best synthesizer man in rock history. His first album with Yes was Not Fragile and surely was a plus when he joined with them. If piano counts, then it's "Burn Down The Mission" by Sir Elton John. I have to agree with Sammy on this one. There is no keyboard solo like the one Elton does with Burn Down The Mission on his 11-17-70 live album.
_jr_ Posted June 14, 2005 Report Posted June 14, 2005 Anyone ever dig on some Thelonius Monk? One long, great, jazzy/bluesy piano solo.
