cindy17838
Butthole Surfers Circle Jerks Jimmy Eat World A-Ha Echo and the Bunnymen The Sneaker Pimps Wang Chung Siouxsie and the Banshees Smashing Pumpkins Voice of the Beehive Puddle of Mudd All unusual sounding if you had to use them in a sentence, and then explained how they refer to a group of people playing music. How about "Sonic Death Monkey" I know its not original but its cooler sounding than "Billy Jive and the Uptown Five" and "Tenacious D" and Jack Black could be happy with any of them since he's been in bands with each of these names, although the first two were only in a movie. audioslave
two of my favorite baltimore bands from the 70's had really great names - Facedancer and Crack the Sky - anybody else remember them? Other good/weird names- My Morning jacket, Veruca Salt, toad the wet sproket, they might be giants and herman's hermits. oh and for carl - I read somewhere that the frontman for Hoobastank was asked where they got the name and he said it was what the H in Jesus H. Christ stood for. Who knew?
cindy17838
MTV-2 is now showing re-runs of Beavis and Butthead in the middle of the night. One of the videos they were watching tonight was by MC 900-ft Jesus Weird name, but what good news it is that B&B is on again, even if it's only re-runs. Tenacious_Peaches
I heard that Seven Mary Three was taken from the 70s TV show C.H.i.P.s. It was Erik Estrada's partners radio handle. Go figure...

MuzikTyme
What's funny to me is that I never associated seven mary three with chips. But now, peachy, I don't understand how I missed the connection. It all makes perfect sense now. I always thought it was referring to the seven deadly sins, Mary and the holy trinity: The Father The Son The Holy Spirit Learn something everyday . . . still. Danielj
David Gilmour of PF - another great, but unfortunately, he is UNDER RATED. Clapton may have made his guitar "sing", as they say, but Page made his WAIL :guitar: Umm just a little pointer, i think I would rather singing than wailing in music. If everything was wailing, where would the songs you can go to sleep to be? Clapton's music is B-E-A-utiful

_jr_
I've enjoyed reading this post, and have several comments. Pick out the ones that pertain to you. 1. I'm discovering that Catherine and I are are like minded on Clapton and his 'overratedness'. Quite pedestrian in his solo work. I also agree with you that Angus Young's work is very pleasing to my musical palate, and that's what music is all about. 2. Yes, I remember Facedancer (Red Shoes) and Crack the Sky (We came all the way down from an acid trip just to play for you) 3. I think "The Strokes" is a cool name for a band, but "The Stroke" is a horribly, horribly bad song. 4. Eddie Van Halen was top dog for a while, but he doesn't go exploring too much. His work today is fairly close to what it was in 1977. Ditto Ted Nugent 5. If I were going to have a band, I'd call it "Mental Floss" That's all I have to say about that....
