Thanks Jeff. :)

Your SOS saved 'Can't Help Falling In Love' for another week, but not 'Mack The Knife', I don't think. I can never vote Elvis songs down either.

VOTING IS CLOSED !!! :guitar:

I'll post the Chart when I bounce out of bed in the morning. :sleepy:

Hello again. I'm DJ Ceejay, and welcome to another edition of Golden Oldies Top 40. :happybanana:

Last week, Ricky Nelson took over the #1 spot with Travelin' Man. Will he stay there for a 2nd week? We'll find out at the end of our countdown. So let's get started.

5 songs drop out of our countdown this week:

All Shook Up by Elvis Presley

Mack the Knife by Bobby Darin

Quarter to Three by Gary (U.S.) Bonds

Rhythm of the Rain by the Cascades, and

The Loco-Motion by Little Eva

That means 5 new songs enter the chart this week:

Starting at #39 with I Put a Spell on You by Screamin' Jay Hawkins

At #35, the song that immortalized a dance craze, The Twist by Chubby Checker

New at #34, a song that makes you want to start dirty dancing ;) , Do You Love Me by the Contours

Coming in at #33, the first chart entry for the Angels, My Boyfriend's Back

And the highest debut this week is from Brian Hyland, at #27, Sealed with a Kiss

The 5 biggest leapers this week are:

Up 12 notches from 36 to 24, Georgia on My Mind by Ray Charles

Gaining 10 spots from 26 to 16, Shop Around by Smokey Robinson & the Miracles

Climbing 9 slots, from 34 to 25 is another Motown smash, Please Mr. Postman by the Marvelettes

Moving up 8 from 40 to 32 in its 2nd week is one of 2 Chuck Berry songs in the countdown, Maybelline

And rising 7 from 28 to 21 is That'll be the Day by Buddy Holly

Before we get to the top 10, it's time for a "long distance dedication". This one comes from yours truly, to all my SF friends around the world, wishing you a Happy Easter, Happy Passover, happy Opening Day, and happiness in whatever you're celebrating this time of year. It's a song written by Irving Berlin, popularized by Bing Crosby in the movie Holiday Inn. This version is by Judy Garland, from the movie named after the song: Easter Parade .

Now on with the countdown:

We have one new entry in the top 10 this week; climbing 3 spots from 13 to 10 are the Beach Boys with Surfin U.S.A.

There is a new #2 song this week, up 4 notches from #6 to #2 is Crying by Roy Orbison. And the #1 song on the Golden Oldies Top 40 this week is ...

:drummer:

for the 2nd week in a row, Travelin' Man by Ricky Nelson.

That's all for this week. Log in again next week for another edition of Golden Oldies Top 40. Kudos to Darryl for his great work in compiling this week's and every week's chart. Until next time, keep your head in the stars :stars: and keep reaching for the ground.

What an excellent summary of this week's Top 40.

Thanks Jeff. :)

I remember seeing 'Easter Parade' with my Mum and Dad - 60 years ago.

And I've hired it on Video since. A great Musical.

..................................................

There certainly are 5 good new songs this week. I've always been a big fan of 60s 'Girl Groups'. Here's a Link to a great Site with many photos and biographies.
