_Laurie_ Posted July 11, 2008 Report Posted July 11, 2008 Today on the radio they were playing the Classic Yearbook of 1966...I never realized what a great year for music that was...I was only 5 at the time, but I remember my sister who is 13 years older than me playing alot of these tunes....Good stuff!...
Uncle Joe Posted July 11, 2008 Report Posted July 11, 2008 I was 20 then Laur. Say, did your sis ever hang out at Sarne's Luncheonette?
bluesboy Posted July 11, 2008 Report Posted July 11, 2008 Lot's of Great songs came out in '66. 1966 in Music
_Laurie_ Posted July 11, 2008 Report Posted July 11, 2008 Thanks Bluesy!...I heard quite a few of these tunes the other day....Definitely a great year for music!
_Laurie_ Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 I was just watching this video, and Dobie Gray reminds me of Link on Mod Squad.... Drift Away
bluesboy Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 Blues at it's best. Black Nights - Lowell Fulson
Foolonthehill Posted July 17, 2008 Report Posted July 17, 2008 Does anyone here have "Thick As A Brick" on vinyl? I have it on CD but I really want the fake newspaper.
poetrychick Posted July 18, 2008 Report Posted July 18, 2008 I absolutely love love love Louis Armstrong. The best!
Udo Posted July 19, 2008 Report Posted July 19, 2008 I was just watching this video, and Dobie Gray reminds me of Link on Mod Squad.... Drift Away I went digging through the songs of his that are on YouTube. I'm truly surprised that he isn't "up there" with the Temptations, Jackson 5, etc. for great soul artists. Dobie does disco
_Laurie_ Posted July 19, 2008 Report Posted July 19, 2008 Wow...thanks for posting this one Udo..I like it!
Udo Posted July 19, 2008 Report Posted July 19, 2008 So, following up on Dobie Gray brought me to discover that songwriter Jonnie Barnett ("The Chain of Love") did not have a wikipedia page. Now he does.
Farin Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 does anybody have the new Fratellis album and/or knows whether it's as good as Costello Music?
TheLizard Posted July 24, 2008 Report Posted July 24, 2008 Automatic for the People is a good stormy day album. The remnants of Hurricane Dolly are coming through here, and it just seemed like the right one to put on.
Farin Posted July 24, 2008 Report Posted July 24, 2008 AftP is a good album, period but now that I think about it, it's also good for storms
skybluesky Posted July 24, 2008 Report Posted July 24, 2008 Automatic is amazing. One of my all time favorite albums.
miamisammy29 Posted July 24, 2008 Report Posted July 24, 2008 I prefer "Fables of the Reconstruction".
skybluesky Posted July 24, 2008 Report Posted July 24, 2008 My favorite early R.E.M.(still with IRS) album is definitely Life's Rich Pageant. Post IRS is Automatic, though I have a fondness for all of them but Around the Sun.
The Seeker Posted July 25, 2008 Report Posted July 25, 2008 "It was recently announced that the entire Who's Next (1971 Release) album would be available to download for the upcoming video game Rock Band for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3" Someone please please please tell me this is not true. It can't be true. I uploaded a number of Who songs to youtube, and these days the only comments I get on those videos are "OMG I killed this one in Rock Band last night!", "i cannot wait for this pack on Rock Band, its going to be so awesome.", "Well, Pinball Wizard is confirmed for Rock Band 2. Have you bought The Who Rock Band track pack yet? It is unbelivable!" I'm really quite p*ssed off about that
