Levis Posted June 11, 2008 Report Posted June 11, 2008 I don't like Chris Martin's voice... that Violet Hill song keeps coming on the radio and I'm all.... ""
Farin Posted June 11, 2008 Report Posted June 11, 2008 ^you forgot that in the time of chimpanzees he was a monkey. I was leaving that one for someone else
Jenny Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 I didn't know whether to laugh or cry when one day, on the way home, my daughter starts belting out at the top of her lungs: "Who let the dogs out? woof, woof woof" Followed by: "Come on, Mommy, bark with me!" I am comforted by the thought that she does shout along to "Free Fallin'" by Tom Petty, too.
Jenny Posted June 20, 2008 Report Posted June 20, 2008 She did go to a birthday where they played that, but that was two months ago, so I was surprised she remembered. Then again, that's most of the song lyrics right there, so I guess it's not that hard to memorize after one hearing.
Skuff Posted June 20, 2008 Report Posted June 20, 2008 Another random thought. The riff to The All-American Rejects' "Dirty Little Secret" sound exactly like The Bay City Rollers' "Rock and Roll Love Letter." Weird, huh?
bluesboy Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Here's the latest youtube I made. This Wheel's On Fire - The Byrds Felt Forum March 1 , 1970
Jenny Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 On Monday, when I picked my daughter up from daycare, she asked me to put music on. I turned the radio on and the new Kid Rock song was on. "That's not music!" she protested. OK, she really meant that it wasn't her music (she'd wanted the CD player on), but it was still funny.
bluesboy Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 Let's go back to our roots... Here's a patriotic song to help celebrate our nation's birthday. Under The Double Eagle - Norman Blake That's a 1934 Martin D-18... the Stradivarius of guitars.
bluesboy Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 How about a jazzy version of Something's Coming - Richie Cole Plays West Side Story
bluesboy Posted July 5, 2008 Report Posted July 5, 2008 Uncle Joe, I bet you'll like this one. Corcovado - Stan Getz / Astrud Gilberto Church St. Blues - Norman Blake Fingerpickin' at it's finest. Castle Rock - King Curtis
MuzikTyme Posted July 5, 2008 Report Posted July 5, 2008 That's a 1934 Martin D-18... the Stradivarius of guitars. Definitely a good pick but let's not forget the thick sound of the '68 Gibson Les Paul RI "Custom Authentic" BLACK BEAUTY w/"BurstBucker" pick-ups!!! I may be a bit biased because I own one.
karma Posted July 6, 2008 Report Posted July 6, 2008 I was rumageing around in my music today and run across a set I had forgotten I had. Bob Dylan the bootleg series..vol 1-3...1961-1991. Some of the songs I don't remember hearing even and it has a book with it that is the history of it all. Now I have to find time to listen to it all
Uncle Joe Posted July 6, 2008 Report Posted July 6, 2008 Uncle Joe, I bet you'll like this one. Corcovado - Stan Getz / Astrud Gilberto Church St. Blues - Norman Blake Fingerpickin' at it's finest. Castle Rock - King Curtis You got that right, Bluesy. I'm going to a jazz samba show and Brazilian dinner on Thursday at Chima in Philly. Stan Getz is (was) the man!! I met him on a plane to Pittsburgh back in the late 70's. Cool guy.
bluesboy Posted July 7, 2008 Report Posted July 7, 2008 Report back on what the show was like Unc. _ _ _ _ _ _ Gimme Shelter - Rolling Stones - Brussels - Oct. 17, 1973
bluesboy Posted July 8, 2008 Report Posted July 8, 2008 One of the classiest recordings of Come Rain or Come Shine by Ella Fitzgerald.
Tenacious_Peaches Posted July 8, 2008 Report Posted July 8, 2008 Excellent, bluesy. Ella's as smooth as spun silk. I saw her in concert back in the 80s and she was fantastic.
bluesboy Posted July 9, 2008 Report Posted July 9, 2008 Here's High Fashion Queen by Chris Hillman & Steve Earle off the Return of the Grievous Angel : A Tribute to Gram Parsons album.
