Swordfish are pretty fast, but Sailfish are actually the fastest fish in the world. They have been clocked at over 110 kph, and can maintain that speed longer than a cheetah can. But it turns out Frédérick Bousquet broke the record in April with an amazing 20.94! I struggle to comprehend that - I think I would still take more than a minute to swim 50m. Levis Posted August 4, 2009 Report Share Posted August 4, 2009 Yes but see, humans are land mammals and swordfish, sailfish etc. have sort of EVOLVED over time, a large proportion of which was spent in the ocean which is a whole lot of water and which necessitates some basic swimming ability.
