The Songfactors' Choice Top Ten #61

Recommended Posts

Well, we're really pleased you joined us Ken. I know I speak for everyone when I say I hope you'll become a Top Ten Regular.

It's great to share all of our different tastes in Music here. It's nice to get one in the Top Ten occasionally too, but participation is the real enjoyment of this thread.

:)

I'm not sure what's going on !

I made a Post and sent PTs to Lucky and Joe, but nothing's happened.

I'm not banned, or dead, like in 'Sixth Sense' am I ???

:)

NO - here we go. For some reason my browser didn't have a page 3 !!!

I didn't want to waste a good sandwich and cup of coffee on a dead man.

Catch you after Lunch and watching last night's '24' episode which we taped.

Thanks Lucky and Joe. :) Yes, we hope Ken comes back next week for a 'fix'.

I've seen Rayzor and Peaches both around, and have suggested in PTs to them that in the rules of the Top Ten, being Regulars, they're both entitled to vote if they wish to. And, if my calculations are correct, #1 and #2 is still 'open', #3 is virtually assured, but #4 to #14 are still 'wide open'. Farin will confirm all later.

12 renominations this time. The Faces' Stay With Me is liked by many this being it's 4th nomination. Hope it will make it this time. Not much chance, though, as we have so many bloody aces this time! As usual the numbers are the song's highest placement.

1. Stay With Me - Faces feat. Rod Stewart - 12 - Nom 3 times before

2. Ain't Even Done With The Night - John Mellencamp - 13

3. Like A Hurricane - Neil Young - 16

Woh ! It was a lot closer than I thought. Apparently someone voted for Jumpin'Jack Flash in 7th place, (4 Points)in his Ten, but changed his vote later ! Just so long as you let Farin know for our Records (which he did).

:P

Maybe our Statistician, Dappled, could tell us if 92 Points for You Can't Always Get What You Want is the highest ever for a song which didn't reach #1 ? Lucky was very Unlucky.

:)

And someone has to mention this, because it's never happened before (I don't think) and probably never will again: ;)

Both of Farin's nominations made the Top Ten !!!

Goodnight All. Way past my bedtime.

I would almost be offended, but in reality it's your fault (not YOURS, but you all), you could all just vote for my nominations... simple as that, I mean - I do it too, so it isn't THAT hard...

Both Martin's noms made it... and what's greater is that I Lov them! Excessively great going, ji!!

I couldn't have done it (well I didn't do much anyway  ) without you, ji

Ironic a little bit that this would happen the week he breaks his nominations from the 1990s rule :P

I think that's what Darryl meant with "it propably will never happen again" *sigh*

Jumpin Jack Flash is the name of my dog.

Cool. My brother used to have a dog named Jagger. He died several years back (the dog, not my brother).

Leon Russell may be one of the most underrated singer/songwriters of all time because he can't sing very well. His version of this, his own song, did squat; while the voice of Jagger carried it to number one.

What are you trying to say? That Leon Russell wrote "Jumpin' Jack Flash"? Not true. It was a semi-autobiographical tune written by Jagger (with Richards, of course). They called their slow-footed gardener Jumpin' Jack Flash (Richards' gardener, I think).

Leon Russell did do a live version in 1971 at the Concert for Bangladesh. And Frampton does an excellent version on "Frampton Comes Alive". But nobody's version beats the Stones.

It's also, in my opinion, the greatest live song ever performed, and I think EVERY artist should perform it at their concerts.
