blind-fitter
As for my two cents, I was...uh...only joking back there (about us "youngsters", etc., etc.). I'm stuck in as much mud as anyone else, it's just different mud, that's all...
Tenacious_Peaches
but if you notice nominations by the 'younger' people like Fin, TimLizzy, Namahage, Katie, Elvy, Chris, Jenny or Peaches then they nominate, to a great part at least, 'older' music... Holy crap, did you just refer to me as a 'younger person'? I love you, Farin.

bazooka
1. Long Tall Sally -- Little Richard .. I'm fascinated by Little Richard and, of course, Bo Diddley -- flamboyant Black artists who broke into the teen-age Rock & Roll market (Check out the lily white audience in the video). I can imagine how it shocked parents in the 50s. This song is explosive! 2. Down To Zero -- Joan Armatrading 3. Albatross -- Fleetwood Mac 4. Love Is All Around -- The Troggs 5. I Thank You -- ZZ Top .. This version is different enough from Sam & Dave's original to stand on it's own. Sam & Dave had a hit single, backed with Wrap It Up , which, in turn, was covered fabulously by The Fabulous Thunderbirds. 6. Lunatic Fringe -- Tom Cochrane & Red Rider .. For years I thought this was Pink Floyd. 7. Twilight Zone -- Golden Earring 8. No More Mr. Nice Guy -- Alice Cooper 9. Surrender -- Cheap Trick 10.Black Coffee in Bed -– Squeeze
CanAm
1. Carolina In My Mind - James Taylor 2. Love Grows(Where My Rosemary Goes) - Edison Lighthouse 3. Authority Song - John Mellencamp 4. Signs - Five Man Electrical Band 5. Train Kept A Rollin' - Aerosmith This is an excellent cover of an excellent tune by the Yardbirds. 6. Twilight Zone - Golden Earring 7. Chantilly Lace - The Big Bopper 8. Don't Worry, Baby - Los Lobos I'm glad to see this great group get a nomination . 9. Long Tall Sally - Little Richard 10. Saturday In The Park - Chicago Regarding my suggestion, I don't know what age we could use as a cutoff. After all, BF tends to nominate and vote for 90's and 00's songs and yet he is 42 (although I'm sure he is incredibly youthful in both appearance and outlook). Perhaps we could refer to our individual records of nominating and voting to determine who falls in the "younger" category and who falls in the "mature and distinguished" category. Perhaps our statistical wizard Dappled could assist us int this determination? Wow, I'm up to four cents now. I hope I can afford it.

TheLizard
I'm wondering where I fit into this equation, as through a freak accident in the Improbability Field, I ended up traveling through every time in the universe simultaneously, and picked up musical tastes from every point in humanity's existence. I'm staying home this year, got a family lunch tomorrow (fish and prawns of course!) and barbie on Sunday. In between that, I'll be having drinks with my friends, going to the club and enjoying Goulburn's most beautiful season, autumn.
