Kevin
Yes , if Phil were Speaker or head honcho , you guys would be switching Presidents faster than a banana republic - or Japan even !
Lucky
Lucky liked Ike ! :beady: Kevin! Honestly, I feel much the same as phil, though I wouldn't be so quick to cut... I want people to vote, no matter what their views. I feel it's an important responsibility, one that isn't taken seriously enough. I am surprised Joe, the things that you've listed are almost identical to what my list would look like. I agree we haven't heard nearly enough about concrete plans regarding health care reform (I deal with problems arising in that area every day, it's my #1 issue), Iraq, and Social Security. I'll vote for the candidate that can provide me with some answers.

edna
When it comes to the US elections, sometimes I believe the whole world should vote... I mean, whatever the US does, it affects the other countries, in a way or another. I will have to vote soon too. We (France) also have a woman who wants to be a president. If not for Margaret Tatcher I´d give a blind vote to a woman in politics...
Kevin
That would be silly , edna . Golda Maier , Benazir Bhutto , and Kim Campbell ( Canada ) didn't do much of note , either .
phil
If I cut Bush, I'd have to call up Cheney. Even I wouldn't do that.
Kevin
No , best let sleeping dogs lie . But -perhaps you could put Cheney on your DL ( heart condition ) instead ?
Farin
That would be silly , edna . Golda Maier , Benazir Bhutto , and Kim Campbell ( Canada ) didn't do much of note , either . don't forget our dear Angie (Merkel)

edna
But they were not as bad as Mrs Tatcher. At least, they tried to do something good.
Kevin
Hated though she was , and deservedly so for some things , Britain's current ' wealth' and good times come largely from the policies she put in place . Call it tough love , if you like , but at least they broke through the draining mediochrity they were stuck in during the ' 60's and '70 's - hence, The Pythons . Major and Blair 'surfed' on her reforms - hard as they were . Glad I didn't have to go through it , though ! Pink Floyd was wrong on ' The Final Cut ' . Shawna
The issues that will decide my vote are: I find it refreshing - and less lonely - that someone besides myself votes based on the issues, rather than straight Rep or Dem no matter what. Jenny
I vote on issues as well, and I'm registered as independent, but I must admit, I do tend to lean toward Democrats. I must admit, though, the last couple of elections, I've had to hold my nose while voting, because both candidates stunk so bad.

Tenacious_Peaches
I've been a militant Democrat for as long as I can remember, even before I was old enough to vote. But the older I get, the less I vote strictly on party lines and the more I really investigate the issues. With age comes wisdom and all that crap. PSYCHOcatholic
Who do you think can get us out of Iraq safely, and smartly? Honestley, i cant really trust what Hillary is saying anymore, and im Independent. She keeps changing her mind. What i did like a few weeks ago, she said that she will continue to fund the troops of America. But...she said she will DEFINITELY cut off he Iraqi soldiers money. But, i dont know. Im still tryin to figure out what congress is gonna do, its big to me. What congress decides in these next few months may decide whether i go to iraq for a tour or not. Its like waiting on a verdict from a jury.

MarcM
Insert musical interlude: Tramp The Dirt Down I saw a newspaper picture from the political campaign A woman was kissing a child, who was obviously in pain She spills with compassion, as that young child's face in her hands she grips Can you imagine all that greed and avarice coming down on that child's lips Well I hope I don't die too soon I pray the Lord my soul to save Oh I'll be a good boy, I'm trying so hard to behave Because there's one thing I know, I'd like to live long enough to savour That's when they finally put you in the ground I'll stand on your grave and tramp the dirt down When England was the whore of the world Margeret [sic] was her madam And the future looked as bright and as clear as the black tarmacadam Well I hope that she sleeps well at night, isn't haunted by every tiny detail 'Cos when she held that lovely face in her hands all she thought of was betrayal And now the cynical ones say that it all ends the same in the long run Try telling that to the desperate father who just squeezed the life from his only son And how it's only voices in your head and dreams you never dreamt Try telling him the subtle difference between justice and contempt Try telling me she isn't angry with this pitiful discontent When they flaunt it in your face as you line up for punishment And then expect you to say "Thank you" straighten up, look proud and pleased Because you've only got the symptoms, you haven't got the whole disease Just like a schoolboy, whose head's like a tin-can filled up with dreams then poured down the drain Try telling that to the boys on both sides, being blown to bits or beaten and maimed Who takes all the glory and none of the shame Well I hope you live long now, I pray the Lord your soul to keep I think I'll be going before we fold our arms and start to weep I never thought for a moment that human life could be so cheap 'Cos when they finally put you in the ground They'll stand there laughing and tramp the dirt down
