Shawna
does anyone know how the word "homage" is correctly pronounced? I've heard it "Oem-aj" (long a, soft g almost like a z), "aumage" (au sound and harder g), or "homage" (h is pronounced, au sound, and harder g). Levis
Funny... I was discussing pronunciation of that word at work two days ago. I insisted on it being pronounced the french way for a voiceover, and the others looked it up and wanted to pronounce it with the 'h'.

TheLizard
Well, there was a jazz hit in 1938 called "Jeepers Creepers", but I don't know if it was used before that song.
skybluesky
Wikipedia says-- Jeepers Creepers is a 20th-century euphemism for "Jesus Christ", and a colloquial U.S. interjection used as a mild swearing expressing surprise.

Shawna
since we are on the subject of words, does any one know the origin of the phrase "Jeepers Creepers" ? I just read an article that says the cartoonist who wrote "Barney Google and Snuffy Smith" invented that phrase, along with "heebie jeebies" and "discombooberate." His name was Billy De Beck... MarcM
In my house, herbs (pronounced "erbs")are what you put on food. Herb is a man' from the 70's. If Herb cooks a delicious chicken using herbs, it is appropriate to pay homage to him.
