Lucky Posted November 3, 2010 Report Posted November 3, 2010 Yes, that's right .... a diseased branch.
Uncle Joe Posted November 3, 2010 Report Posted November 3, 2010 Yep...Oh, and while the words "separation of church and state" do not appear literally (word for word) in the constitution they do in fact appear in meaning.
MindCrime Posted November 3, 2010 Report Posted November 3, 2010 This severe cold & cough that just wont go away. I have things to do today and am hoping to get rid of it shortly.
TheLizard Posted November 3, 2010 Report Posted November 3, 2010 Yep...Oh, and while the words "separation of church and state" do not appear literally (word for word) in the constitution they do in fact appear in meaning. Yup, as interpreted by the framers and two centuries of court precedent. So suck it, Christine O'Donnell.
RockyRaccoon Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 Two centuries? It was interpreted officially by the court in 1947...or at least that's what I thought.
skybluesky Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 Yup, as interpreted by the framers and two centuries of court precedent. So suck it, Christine O'Donnell. Watch out Tim, she'll have her coven turn you into a toad
Shawna Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 Not necessarily a gear-grinding thing, but this conversation caught my interest, because: Doing court transcripts I have noticed that the oath in many states no longer contains "So help you, God." However, in actual court today in Maricopa County, the oath given by the judge DID contain that statement. As an observer, I noticed that and wondered - almost out loud - if I would have said "no" had it been me taking it.

As an observer, I noticed that and wondered - almost out loud - if I would have said "no" had it been me taking it. I wouldn't have said no, but I would have stopped the bailiff at "nothing but the truth" or just not said "so help me God" and answered "yes, I will tell the truth" instead. I'm not religious and even in a court of law, where religion should be totally absent, I won't be forced to invoke the name of a deity before my testimony. If my own word that I will tell the truth is not enough, don't call me as a witness.
Uncle Joe Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 Pinkstones, I don't think they'd dare mess with you.
Ombre Vivante Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 Yup, as interpreted by the framers and two centuries of court precedent. So suck it, Christine O'Donnell. She's cute as hell
miamisammy29 Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 She's cute as hell SHE'S A WITCH, FOR CHRISSAKES!!
RonJonSurfer Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 SHE'S A WITCH, FOR CHRISSAKES!! There are cute witches....
Shawna Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 so long as we're talking about witches and what grinds our gears, I'll throw this in. A couple of kids I know (well, they're 21... kids to me) have been taught by the church that they attend several times a week that paganism is evil. I tried to tell them, well, pagans actually began as just farmers, just people who wanted to live and let live. But no, they're being taught pagans were minions of the devil, and that Halloween also had its beginnings in evil. The blatant ignorance of people confuses and irritates me to the point of distraction. History of Paganism
MuzikTyme Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 You're not alone, dear Shawna. Anyone that puts their belief beyond themself is insane! Thanks for agreeing!
miamisammy29 Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 There are cute witches.... Sure, there are cute witches! They can make themselves look however they want!
