OLD 55
I suppose we're voting for the songs we like best; not the ones we think would be best suited to Halloween ? A bit of both I suppose !

Steel2Velvet
Guest vocalist appearing with CCR on "I Put A Spell On You" is Sceaming Jay Hawkins. If you vote for one act, you vote for both acts. There were sooo many nominations, that I tried to consolidate. Let's not do this 5 nominations per voter again. It just means people may tend to lean to voting for their noms and then only 5 that they didn't nominate.

OLD 55
I think Steel is joking with you edna. Screamin' Jay certainly wasn't on the original CCR cover. I know they did re-record it later - maybe he was on that ? I find it disappointing that only 8 people have bothered to vote. I hope we get a few more, or we might abandon "Special" Top Tens. OLD 55
I was under the impression we have until Thursday to vote. I intend to vote, when I get the time ... You're right about the closing time B-F. It would be nice to think we'll get a deluge of votes in the next couple of days, but I doubt that. (Please prove me wrong). I thought we might be saturating the Threads with too many Specials. We are a bit light on with Nominations in our regular Top Ten at the moment. Maybe some people are losing interest ! If you'd chased up as many people as I have to make these Top Tens work, you'd probably understand my disappointment. But I won't be doing that any more. The Seeker
I like Special Top Tens, but I'm not taking part in this one because I don't really like Halloween (it's about the music, I know, but for obvious reason all the music here has a very halloween-y feel to it) and because I don't know lots of the nominated songs. If you'd chased up as many people as I have to make these Top Tens work, you'd probably understand my disappointment. But I won't be doing that any more. I like Special Top Tens, I think they're great fun. But THIS one is a bit out of my league i don't know too many of the songs and I couldn't think of any to nominate. DON'T be so NEGATIVE... there is NO NEED to stop the top tens.
Steel2Velvet
I don't know if these are good "Halloween songs", I just took the ones I like best .. and then they also were almost the only songs I recognized... It's still a "favorites" type poll, so you did good, Farin. There was an exceptional amount of obscurity in these nominations, but that's cool too. There´s no voice but Fogerty´s voice in this song... SteelRon, you convinced me during some minutes (till I heard CCR´s version again) Sorry for the confusion, Edna. That's why I commented with the preface that this holiday was a time of using the imagination. We didn't have strict guidelines, because this is a "special" top ten. We having fun yet? I like Special Top Tens, but I'm not taking part in this one because I don't really like Halloween I know what you mean, Seeker. At one point I didn't let my kids "celebrate" Halloween for fear it would draw them toward the occult. Heck, for years, we wouldn't give candy at our house on "Beggar's Night." But my attitude eventually grew to the same as when I was a kid. This is a time of masquarade, making light of darkness and just enjoying our ability to make believe. It is all just for fun, which is what the Halloween masquarade should be about. This idea of a Dark Lord celebration is only relative if you let it be. I don't think a little kid dressing in a pumpkin suit and asking for candy will harm him anymore than a miracle is imminent because an evil person sings Silent Night after stealing a present to give to someone during the celebration of Jesus' birth. The Seeker
I know what you mean. I have to say, though, that I never really thought much about how Halloween is associated with the occult, I simply don't like dressing up and the whole atmosphere, if you can call it that.
