Batman Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 Can you vote for your own? 1. Autobahn 2. Feel Good Inc 3. Aqualung 4. Life on Mars? 5. Gimme Shelter 6. Roadhouse Blues 7. Respect 8. Lets Stay Together 9. Revolution 10. Try a Little Tenderness
RonJonSurfer Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 I think you need to vote for your own....part of the process.
Lucky Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 But my own aren't at the top...someone else already nominated them. I'm keeping a list this week... Here's mine: 1) Just Like A Woman 2)Respect 3)Roadhouse Blues 4)You Send me 5)unchained Melody 6)Revolution 7)Captain Jack) 8)The Weight 9)Lunatic Fringe 10)You Shook Me
OLD 55 Posted April 3, 2006 Author Report Posted April 3, 2006 Thanks for voting RonJon, Batman and CeeCee. We have votes from two thirds of the eligible voters now Yes, normally you'd put your own at #1 and #2, unless as CeeCee said someone nominates songs that you like better. The same thing happened to me.
OLD 55 Posted April 3, 2006 Author Report Posted April 3, 2006 BTW...can you type out the word "respect" without singing r-e-s-p-e-c-t??? Good point RonJon. I didn't put it in my Ten because I've been listening to it for longer than any of you, and I suppose I've grown a bit tired of it. Same with Unchained Melody, which I just couldn't leave out. If I was voting for what I considered to be the BEST songs in the List they'd have been at the Top. But I voted on what I'd like to hear now.
Lucky Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 55 you are not that much older than me....I love Respect as much now as then. Same with Unchained Melody.
OLD 55 Posted April 3, 2006 Author Report Posted April 3, 2006 I was all grown up at 16 when you were born CeeCee. I have one whole shelf of 60s 'Various Artists' Compilations CDs, and I think Respect and Unchained Melody are on nearly all of them. Except for Respect Aretha was never that big out here, but when I heard Chain Of Fools again in the movie "Michael" I went out and bought her "Gold" Double CD. Love that song !

Farin Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 The Eurythmics I think it's the same as (The) Sweet, but was wondering non the less if they're known as "The Eurythmics" in Australia and/or the USA. I've never heard it and I'd like to think that in whole Europe they're just "Eurythmics" (at least in Germany they are)...
edna Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 I´ve worked in their record company and they always were "Eurythmics", with no "The"... In all Europe at least, I don´t know in America or Australia... I like them better now as Annie Lennox...
OLD 55 Posted April 3, 2006 Author Report Posted April 3, 2006 (edited) I can't sleep very well (4.30 am here) so I wandered out to the computer. I see I've made a couple of errors with "The"; it's just Eurythmics and I should have The Kinks. ............................................... I'll probably close this Top Ten off in about 5 hours time, as almost everyone's now voted. Young "nicknameless" (sex unknown) hasn't been back on Songfacts since he/she made his/her nominations and I see Phil's online now. (He was - haven't heard much from him lately). Thanks everyone. ................................................. Good unholy hours of the morning all. I'm going to go back to bed now. :sleepy: :sleepy: :sleepy: I've just invited Joe to have a vote, because he wasn't around when we were doing the nominations. I'm sure everybody will welcome this wise man's input. Edited April 3, 2006 by Guest HaveagoJoe
