RonJonSurfer
Darryl, I just wanted to congratulate you. This has been a wildly successful idea. It is fun, elicits participation and drums up some passions about rock and roll. Really an impressive job. Thanks for the effort you put into this and making all of SF a better place. OLD 55
Thanks very much RonJon and Elvish. That's really appreciated. How did you know I needed some kind words? I just had all the nominations arranged in alphabetical order and accidentally deleted the Post. I said a few unkind words. I'll try again later. Gotta go out for a while. CanAm
Whew, I still have time to get in my nominations for week #3. One from the 60's: Do You Believe In Magic - The Lovin' Spoonful One from the 70's: Let It Ride - B.T.O.
OLD 55
About time someone nominated a Spoonful song CanAm. 46 Nominations so far, and there's heaps I want to vote for. A few regulars still to nominate yet too ! We might have to make it an Easter Top 20. I'll list them all out later. I only got one of my 10 selections in last time (just), Cecilia, at #10. Did anyone do worse than that ? Could they ? The two Chart Toppers so far have been nominated by Brad My Sharona and Phil Gimme Shelter. It must be one of the ladies' turn this time. Kevin
Boy, do I have sucky taste!!! Oh , dear ! Sorry Steel - and on the contrary , IMO , you have excellent taste . Perhaps we all have a few songs like this , but "Africa" , for some inexplicable reason , is one of those tunes that just push my buttons . If I hear the opening riffs , I immediately have to turn the dial , switch the channel or excuse myself from the room - or sit through it in a grumpy mood ( the Beastie Boys have a similar effect on me , too ) - part of my " specialness " as Darryl would say ... OLD 55
When I suggested an Easter Top 20, I didn't mean an additional one; just extending it from our usual 10 to 20 songs. (A couple of our local stations have a Top 500 Countdown over Easter). Of course my main reason was a selfish one. I can't choose just 10 songs - I just like so many of the nominations this time, and I can see others feel the same. Maybe the mind boggles at choosing 20 songs Here's the OLD55 Rocket Science System if anyone's interested. Step 1: *Print out the final nominations list (when we have it). Step 2: Cross out all the songs you DON'T like. Step 3: Make 3 headings - Love It, Really Good, Pretty Good. Step 4: List each of your remaining songs under one of those 3 headings. Step 5: Starting with "Love It" mumber them in order. Before you know it you'll have your 20. Important: Do it in pencil. You're sure to change your mind on a couple. Very Important: Don't stress about it. It's supposed to be FUN ! *If you don't have a printer, ignore steps 1 and 2 ! ................................................. OLD 55
Well Laurie's the only one who's said she could choose 20 so far. One of our good friends sent me a Private Message suggesting maybe we need more nominations (one extra from everyone)? I just wonder if that is going to muddle things. My time will be a bit more limited, as our darling little grandchildren (and their parents) will be with us in a couple of days, staying for Easter. I've already got my 20 picked out (could change with more nominations of course), but if you want to vote for only Ten that's fine by me too ! Feedback here will be appreciated. Kevin
I'd leave it at 10 , Darryl , as it makes us think more critically about the list ( and hence better ) . I agree that 20 ( even +) could be easily chosen as there are so many decent choices , but in terms of keeping it simple , both for you and all , stick with 10 . My two bits .
