Steel2 I was just browsing the last few pages checking nominations, and I remembered that I meant to compliment you on your "Africa" photo. My youngest son has a Bachelor of IT , but he's decided that's not for him, and he's gone back to Uni to pursue Photography as a career.

Thanks for the compliment, Fitty. Hope your son finds as much inner reward as I have, by seeing things a little differently through the lens. He would do well to tap into a site where all levels of photography skills (from basic through professional) are elevated through communal interaction: www.digitalimagecafe.com

Thanks Steel. I'll have a browse and show Peter when he gets home from Uni. later. I'll have to put some of his work on here sometime - have a "showing for" him.

Thanks Malakin. I'd better try to acquire that "Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys". I'd never heard of it until a few days ago. I reckon from the title I won't like it, but being open minded I'll give it a listen. I could never understand why some of their late 60s U.K./ Australian Hits never charted in the U.S.

:P

I just amended my post above a little. I've always liked Stevie Winwood/ Spencer Davis Group/ Traffic, but you know me - singles not album cuts (usually). I'll let you know what I think of it.

There's a few U.K. Groups I like but I don't nominate their songs because I don't want to waste a nomination if nobody in the U.S. has heard of them.

Do you guys know Fischer-Z ???

Oh yeah 55 you'll like it. It only missed my vote cause I voted the oldies. I'm a big Winwood/Spencer Davis/Traffic girl myself. I'm guaranteeing you'll like it! It was released as a single here....

Hi Edna. :)

So Long and The Perfect Day were their big ones here in Australia. They never had any Chart Hits in the U.S. Maybe some will try to acquire those songs thanks to us ?

Why didn'tch tell me

Not leave me this way

...we'll get you to be an album deep cut kind of guy...just give us time....You'll love it, really you will! :) :headphones:

At my age I mightn't have time to listen to too many 10 minute opuses, Laurie. Although I did hear one I liked today. My Son-in-law introduced me to the extraordinary guitarist Bill Kirchen's 10 minute version of Hot Rod Lincoln. Anyone know it ? He also played me Parthenogenesis by Canned Heat. I'll parth on that.

It doesn't seem to want to be acquired CeeCee. I'm still waiting. :P

I do, I do (waving hand wildly). Isn't it great?? He's got the sounds of everyone down pat. I had listed that as one of my fave novelty songs, whether you'd really call it novelty I don't know, but it's amazing!!! Good for your son. Teach the old dog new tricks. By happenstance, Low spark of High Heeled Boys played on my Launchcast right after I posted that last night!!!

And Congratulations Mr and Mrs Elvish ! Doesn't seem like a year.

I really dig Traffic/Spencer Davis/Winwood stuff, I really could've nominated any number of Traffic songs.. But Low Spark has always stood out as my favorite of theirs for some reason or another.. It just has such a great improvised, jazzy feel to it. I can't get tired of that song.

Hi All.

Hope the Party for Nicholas went well Elvish !!!

:)

I've just listened to Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys and I reckon it's as close to Jazz as you're ever going to get ! I like the opening very much. For some reason it also reminds me a little of Sade's Smooth Operator. A tick from me.

:)

He's amazing, that Bill Kirchen. I just found out he was one of the guitarists with Commander Cody And His Lost Planet Airmen who covered Hot Rod Lincoln. My Son-in-law saw him perform it at the annual Blues Festival at Byron Bay (the most Easterly town in Australia) two years ago.

:)

I haven't heard of Launchcast !

:)

I'll put all the votes together and get the Top Ten on as soon as I can. We're minding the Grandkids while their Mum and Dad have a day out.

I haven't finished my Ten yet, and I'll check to see if RT and JimmyJazz got theirs in before I finalize it.

:)
