Sweet Jane 61 Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 Ok was thinking about this the other day and chatted about it with a couple of friends. Think of a group that you like, if you could fire one of the members who would it be and why would you fire them?? You have to give a reason...and you can be as detailed as you want.
blind-fitter Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 Pete Townshend...because The Kids Aren't Alright....
Sweet Jane 61 Posted March 14, 2006 Author Report Posted March 14, 2006 B-F, knew I could rely on you to post a great response! Thank you!
Tenacious_Peaches Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 That was so funny I may have drooled a little bit.
blind-fitter Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 To be fair, Uncle Joe should take some credit. He posted then deleted (for some reason?), but it prompted me to post my own response. But thanks for the plaudits, everybody. I'm always happy for a few crumbs from your table....
daslied Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 I'm always happy for a few crumbs from your table.... You've got that backwards, B-F.
edna Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 I´d fire Ron Wood and bring back Mick Taylor.
_Laurie_ Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 I'd fire the new guy in INXS....because he's an ex Elvis Impersonator.
Sweet Jane 61 Posted March 14, 2006 Author Report Posted March 14, 2006 Robbie Robertson from The Band if they were still together. He has an attitude about him and his ego seemed to be the most important thing to him. I think the group would have lasted longer if he had not been involved.
Crazy Don Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 I would most definitely fire Michael McDonald from the Doobie Brothers! He changed the group so much that it didn't sound like they did before!
Uncle Joe Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 Robbie Robertson from The Band if they were still together. He has an attitude about him and his ego seemed to be the most important thing to him. I think the group would have lasted longer if he had not been involved. But who would've written the songs?
Lucky Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 I would most definitely fire Michael McDonald from the Doobie Brothers! He changed the group so much that it didn't sound like they did before! Isn't that the truth??? And we get to claim him here in my hometown. I've wanted to find his parents house and ask just what is his deal? Take a perfectly good band and run it into the grouind!!
Sweet Jane 61 Posted March 14, 2006 Author Report Posted March 14, 2006 But who would've written the songs? Well maybe the remaining members would of had a chance to write or bring in someone new. I just don't care for Robbie, my opinion tho.
Uncle Joe Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 I understand you, Jane. Robbie wasn't a very endearing person. Many, including Peaches, share your disdain for him. The Band was a collection of very talented artists and performers. While I'm certain they'd have succeeded without Robertson I also believe they'd not have been as good. He was the driving force behind and in front of the band.
NewYorkMets9 Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 Noel Redding from the Jimi Hendrix Experience because he didn't really add anything. Same for Charlie Watts for the Rolling Stones.
Steel2Velvet Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 Not so much firing, but forced retirement or repositioning for Elton John. He can't come close to the high notes anymore and a baritone Elton John is just not the same. Retire from performing and start a school for gifted young musicians.
phil Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 David Lee Roth from Van Halen because he's a no talent flipping idiot. If he never met Eddie Van Halen, he'd be singing oldies at the Elk's club.
The Seeker Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 I'd fire Ron Wood or whoever the Stones' guitar player is and get Brian Jones back in. Then, I'd fire..ahh, can't fire someone in the Who. }
blind-fitter Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 I'd fire Ron Wood or whoever the Stones' guitar player is and get Brian Jones back in. And how would you manage that exactly?
rtstuff Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 I know he wasn't a member of the band, but I would have fired colonel Tom Parker. He destroyed Elvis. rtstuff
Kevin Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 I'd of fired Dave Stewart so that Annie Lennox could have , avoided alot of heartache and gotten started on a solo career earlier . She's a bit of a freak , but I've always felt oddly protective of her for no reason in particular other than she's hot .

Kevin...you brought my first really good laugh of the day...thank you! And yes she is hot with a killer voice!
