Uncle Joe
Great list of phobias. They even had mine,Manilowaphobia. I'm over that though since I had a Manilowectomy. Not a Manilow record, tape or CD anywhere in the house. We're Barryless. Actually, as I mentioned in another thread, I am claustrophobic. Hate small enclosures, especially MRI tubes. Fortunately they have open ones now. I also hate to face a wall when seated in restaurants. I must be seated facing the most open part of the room. While in the army in basic training I slept outside of my one-man pup-tent. Another quirk (not sure it's a phobia) is that I hate if someone is standing or pacing behind me when I'm seated at the dinner table (home or out). Found this one on the list. Homilophobia- Fear of sermons. I must have it because I freakin' hate sermons. Ithyphallophobia- Fear of seeing, thinking about or having an erect penis. OMG!! Pass the viagra. Medomalacuphobia- Fear of losing an erection. Nurse! It's gettin' worse!! Phobophobia- Fear of phobias. Huh? Jesus H. McBeads! Proctophobia- Fear of rectums. Yet I meet at least one every day. Scatophobia- Fear of fecal matter. C'mon now, isn't that just common sense? Tyrannophobia- Fear of tyrants. But then, that's the idea, isn't it? Oh, and one last thing. I aint afraid o' no ghosts. Foxy
The only one I could actually say is a sorta phobia for me, as I don't think we can use the term too loosely, is Aichmophobia- Fear of needles. Which is great as I have to go and have my op soon! Some of those are just toooooo funny...
invisible_r
I find them quite funny cos i can understand what most of them are without reading the explanation (the advantages of being greek!) anyway, as i've said before, i'm claustophobic. also, i'm not sure if this one is listed, but i have taphophobia which is the fear of being buried alive. invisible_r
can i just add that scata (from the word scatophobia) actually translates to sh*t rather than faeces i.e. it's not the "proper" word (unless it was in those days, which i doubt) it reminds me of a time in a course i had, when we were told that the scientific name of some fly was something scatophaga which translates to [bleep]-eating. my friend and i couldn't stop laughing! I take the train if I can... or whisky, Ambien and hard dope too when I have no other issue... my mom has the same thing because she went through the emergency landing thing at some point in her life. so now, she never flies alone and when she does fly, she takes heavy tranquilisers. I'm proud of her though, she's been on holiday to the states twice in the past year, which is very long flight from greece!

I will be feeling better when he´s already there...13 hours flight, non-stop! ha, tha reminds me of when i went to japan (12 hours flight) and my mom wanted me to call her as soon as i got there regardless of the time. unfortunately, mobile phones don't work there cos the technology is far superior, and i couldn't figure out how to call using the pay phone, so i called her 4 hours later from the hotel! she thought i had died! Probably most of the people. I love to be alone... I had a small appartment just for me so I could be alone whenever I wanted... my boyfriend complained because I didn´t give him the keys... invisible_r
i also have this fear of taking a bath or a shower with the front door unlocked. nnot exactly a fear, but i prefer to have a shower with the chain on the front door, just in case someone comes in (burglar? murderer? i don't understand myself sometimes) and finds me in such a "vulnerable" position! and i think i already mentioned my fear of having a shower/using the toilet without locking the bathroom door!
