miata_chick_01 Posted September 24, 2004 Report Posted September 24, 2004 hey everyone. I need some songs about loving someone secretly and not being able to let the feelings show. i like all kinds of music except rap and the real hard "smash your face off of stuff" rock. Anyone know of any?
_jr_ Posted September 24, 2004 Report Posted September 24, 2004 I always found the best song about loving someone from a distance was "My Eyes Adored You" by Fankie Valli and the Four Seasons. I'm biased, though, because that was popular when I had my first crush. Probably 11-12 years old. Had no clue what girls were for, but I knew it wasn't just playing right field when we were short players. Anyway, it's a wonderful song, and it always makes me smile when I hear it. It used to crush me, though, back in the 70's.
Elvish Posted September 24, 2004 Report Posted September 24, 2004 Alanis Morissette's hidden track on "Jagged Little Pill" is very haunting and beautiful. I, went to your house Walked up the stairs Opened the door without ringing the bell Walked down the hall Into your room Where I could smell you And I, I shouldn?t be here Without permission I shouldn?t be here? Would you forgive me love? If I dance in your shower Would you forgive me love? If I laid in your bed Would you forgive me love? If I stayed all afternoon oh I took off my clothes Put on your robe Went through your drawers And I found your cologne Went down to the den Found your cd?s And I played your Joni And I shouldn?t stay long You might be home soon I shouldn?t stay long Would you forgive me love? If I dance in your shower Would you forgive me love? If I laid in your bed Would you forgive me love? If I stayed all afternoon I burned your incense I ran a bath I notice a letter that sat on your desk It said ?hello love? ?I love you so love? ?Meet me at midnight? And no, it wasn?t my writing, I better go soon It wasn?t my writing So forgive me love If I cry in your shower So forgive me love For the salt in your bed So forgive me love If I cry all afternoon oh?
MindCrime Posted September 24, 2004 Report Posted September 24, 2004 A good current suggestion would be Maroon 5's She Will Be Loved, if you ever see the video for this; they play it occasionally on VH1; it depicts the singer's emotional feelings wrapped up in his own secretive desire for his love?s mother. She is an abused wife, & he has a plan to sweep her off her feet, which he successfully does, leaving his current love disturbed & empty handed.
bluesboy Posted September 24, 2004 Report Posted September 24, 2004 I agree with jrownsdega about Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons another song - Can't Take My Eyes Off You ____ You're just too good to be true Can't take my eyes off you You'd be like Heaven to touch I wanna hold you so much... also Sinatra - Songs for Swingin' Lovers album ('55) - I've Got You Under My Skin and Otis Redding - These Arms of Mine classic R & B off the Pain in My Heart album (1964)
miata_chick_01 Posted September 25, 2004 Author Report Posted September 25, 2004 anyone know of any songs that have to do with loving someone and not being able to tell them or let your feelings show? I have a few i like such as "things i'll never say" by avril lavigne, "crush" by mandy moore but i want some other ones. they help me cope. I like all types of music except rap and real hard rock. anyone have any suggestions?
behindblueeyez Posted September 25, 2004 Report Posted September 25, 2004 You should listen to "Crying In The Rain," preformed by Art Garfunkel and James Talyor

_jr_ Posted September 25, 2004 Report Posted September 25, 2004 You don't have to shout , we're all sitting right here. ::
XXX Posted September 25, 2004 Report Posted September 25, 2004 Good topic. Start at the beginning and finish at the end :: "Strange And Beautiful (I'll Put A Spell On You)" by Aqualung "Nowhere Girl" by B-Movie "See You" and "If You Want" by Depeche Mode "Getting Away With It" by Electronic "Wishing (If I Had A Photograph Of You)" by A Flock Of Seagulls "The Stairs" and "Beautiful Girl" by INXS "Crazy For You" by Madonna "Fade Into You" by Mazzy Star "Vicious Streak" by NewOrder "Never Had Noone Ever" and "Unlovable" by The Smiths "In A Manner Of Speaking" by Tuxedomoon
Earth-Angel Posted September 25, 2004 Report Posted September 25, 2004 Secretly - Skunk Anansie "I've been biding my time, Been so subtly kind, I got to think so selfishly, 'Cos you're the face inside of me. I've been biding my days, U see evidently it pays, I've been a friend, With unbiased views, Then secretly lust after you..."
MindCrime Posted September 25, 2004 Report Posted September 25, 2004 Good list XXX, I actually wouldn't mind owning a compilation with those songs on it. "See You" and "If You Want" by Depeche Mode I never knew See You was about secret admiring, I always thought it was more of a take on an obsession with her, that she is aware about, almost to the point of stalking her & not letting go. All I want to do is see you again Is that too much to ask for? I just want to see your sweet smile Smiled the way it was before Well I'll try not to hold you And I'll try not to kiss you And I won't even touch you All I want to do is see you Don't you know that it's true I remember the days when we'd walk through the woods And sit on a bench for a while I treasure the way we used to laugh and play And look in each others eyes You can keep me at a distance if you don't trust my resistance But I swear I won't touch you All I want to do is see you Don't you know that it's true Well I know five years is a long time And that times change (oh that times change) But I think that you will find People are basically the same (basically the same) If the water's still flowing, we can go for a swim And do the things we used to do And if I'm reluctant you can pull me in And we can relive our youth Oh but we'll stay friendly like sister and brother Though I think I still love you All I want to do is see you Don't you know that it's true?

I never knew See You was about secret admiring, I always thought it was more of a take on an obsession with her, that she is aware about, almost to the point of stalking her & not letting go. Stalking is sort of loving someone obsessively in secret - unless there's a restraining order I thought the song was more about two friends and one wanting something more, yet still keeping the pretense of a Platonic friendship.
Jillianne Posted September 25, 2004 Report Posted September 25, 2004 Aqua Lung- Strange and beautiful Its on the Wicker Park sound track, you should see it.. I've been watching your world from afar, I've been trying to be where you are, And I've been secretly falling apart, I'll see. To me, you're strange and you're beautiful, You'd be so perfect with me but you just can't see, You turn every head but you don't see me. I'll put a spell on you, You'll fall asleep and I'll put a spell on you. And when I wake you, I'll be the first thing you see, lyricstop And you'll realise that you love me. Yeah... Yeah... Sometimes, the last thing you want comes in first, Sometimes, the frist thing you want never comes, And I know, the waiting is all you can do, Sometimes... I'll put a spell on you, You'll fall asleep, I'll put a spell on you, And when I wake you, I'll be the first thing you see, And you'll realise that you love me. I'll put a spell on you, You'll fall asleep 'cos I'll put a spell on you, And when I wake you, I'll be the first thing you see, And you'll realise that you love me, yeah... yeah... yeah... yeah... yeah...

Jimmy1104 Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 A song that came to mind immediately was Olivia Newton John's "I Honestly Love You" I Honestly Love You Maybe I hang around here A little more than I should We both know I got somewhere else to go But I got something to tell you That I never thought I would But I believe you really ought to know I love you I honestly love you You don't have to answer I see it in your eyes Maybe it was better left unsaid This is pure and simple And you should realize That it's coming from my heart and not my head I love you I honestly love you I'm not trying to make you feel uncomfortable I'm not trying to make you anything at all But this feeling doesn't come along everyday And you shouldn't blow the chance When you've got the chance to say I love you I honestly love you If we both were born In another place and time This moment might be ending in a kiss But there you are with yours And here I am with mine So I guess we'll just be leaving it at this I love you I honestly love you I honestly love you
