pinkstones
Which is kind of sad, in a way. The TT should be a surprise every week, not a foregone conclusion. There were several great songs this week that weren't from huge mega classic rock bands that didn't even get a chance.
RockyRaccoon
Which is kind of sad, in a way. The TT should be a surprise every week, not a foregone conclusion. There were several great songs this week that weren't from huge mega classic rock bands that didn't even get a chance. Yea, I get that feeling. I get like that a lot too. I sit there, whether looking at the top tens or listening to the radio or something, and say "Sweet Jesus, 'Peace Of Mind' by Boston [for example] AGAIN? As if I haven't heard this song enough! Screw this, there's so much great indie rock out there!" And I think it's valid, it really is. But every now and then I have to sit there and think to myself "Why is this song so popular? Why is it a rock staple? How did I feel about this song when I first heard it, when it was all new to me?" and then I realize, it's because it's a really awesome song. Maybe as time has gone on and I've heard it a million bazillion times it's become almost cliche to me (as Aldous Huxley said, familiarity breeds indifference), but I tend to forget how great some of that "cliched" music really is. And I think "Magic Bus" is just that. An amazing song that's become such a cliche that I tend to lose sight of how great of a song it really is.
