OLD 55
Thanks Ron and Ian. I really appreciate all who vote. This is OUR Top 40 - not mine. And the more voters we get, the more movement we're going to have in the Chart.
edna
I guess the guy missing must be the lead singer... and I was told his name is Tony Williams... is it right?
OLD 55
That's him ! Well done Elena. In that photo, he's at a separate microphone (which I cut out of the Pic) to the other four. Tony Williams sang lead on all The Platters' big Hits.
OLD 55
Probably the most successful T.V. Western of all time, "Gunsmoke" first hit the screen in 1955. It was most popular from 1957 to 1961. Who remembers their screen names ? I can't think of the guy crouching down. Anyone know ?
edna
I didn´t watch "Gunsmoke"... but I see there´s Burt Reynolds and James Arness...
OLD 55
Gee Elena, you just "Quizpic-ed" me. Good job ! No wonder he looked familiar. I see Burt Reynolds was in the cast from 1962-1965 ! I don't think it was still being shown in Australia then. Westerns had 'had their day' here. Although 'Bonanza' was still popular here then. But it was more of a 'family' drama which just happened to be in a Western setting.

OLD 55
Thanks for the feedback I don't really know that Dion song, "I Was Born To Cry" Elena. Peggy Lee has certainly made a great debut. New in the Top 40 this week: Fever - Peggy Lee Baby It's You - Shirelles Rhythm Of The Rain - Cascades You Send Me - Sam Cooke Sea Of Love - Phil Phillips & The Twilights El Paso - Marty Robbins Take Good Care Of My Baby - Bobby Vee 9 Points was the 'benchmark' to make it this week. The Lion Sleeps Tonight was unlucky to be beaten on a countback for 40th place. Maybe next week ! These dropped out - a couple after only one appearance: The Wayward Wind - Gogi Grant Love Is A Many-Splendored Thing - Four Aces (Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear - Elvis Presley Big Bad John - Jimmy Dean Tossin' And Turnin' - Bobby Lewis I'm Sorry - Brenda Lee Rumble - Link Wray And Patsy Cline and the Everly Brothers made big gains, along with others: All I Have To Do Is Dream - Everly Brothers #9 to #3 Crazy - Patsy Cline #21 to #7 Crying - Roy Orbison #32 to #17 Can't Help Falling In Love - Elvis Presley #25 to #19 Travelin' Man - Ricky Nelson #37 to #20 Up On The Roof - Drifters #33 to #21 Surfin' U.S.A. - Beach Boys #35 to #23 Big Girls Don't Cry is still hanging in there. Will it be there next Chart ? I think we'll see lots of changes next week. Of course, the more voters we have, the more the Chart will potentially change. edna
I don't really know that Dion song, "I Was Born To Cry" Ah, that´s cause you didn´t listen to it when I posted the link (I Was)Born to Cry - Dion (1959) - The video is Johnny Thunders BUT the audio is Dion DiMuci. Just trust the audio...
