Pet Sounds - The Beach Boys 5. After School Session - Chuck Berry 6. Tommy - The Who 7. Thriller - Michael Jackson 8. Beauty and The Beat - The Go-Gos 9. Raising Hell - Run-DMC 10. Trans-europe Express - Kraftwerk I went against what I said earlier (about voting for the ones I know). I know very few of these albums, so I mixed it up a bit. I chose some from my heart and some from the cases made by the more knowledgeable songfactors.

Shawna
Oooo yeah... I'm gonna need some time to read back through all the nominations. This time I've decided I'm going to vote based on how influential I think they were... since I'm not familiar with a lot of them, it'll come down to the best description, I suppose. sort of like the plaintiff/defendant with the best lawyer wins. The Seeker
I didn't put much of an effort into my description of Tommy because I thought I was in more of a hurry than I really was, but you all know how very groundbreaking the album was anyway, right? If you don't, I have failed in my function as an SFer
cyberjudge
9 out of 11 people have voted for it so far, so I think you're in the clear.
The Seeker
I know, I'm just feeling a bit bad about my lack of effort, seeing as Tommy is my favourite album.

The Seeker
Good 1. Tommy - The Who 2. Elvis Presley - Elvis Presley 3. Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd 4. Complete Recordings, The - Robert Johnson 5. Stone Roses, The - The Stone Roses 6. Raising Hell - Run-D.M.C. 7. Saturday Night Fever: The Original Movie Soundtrack 8. Trans-Europe Express - Kraftwerk 9. Bringing It All Back Home - Bob Dylan 10. Blue Lines - Massive Attack It's not easy to vote for the most ground-breaking albums regardless of whether they paved the way for something I actually like or not, but I tried my best. Foolonthehill
14- Dark Side Of The Moon - Pink Floyd - had it been "Atom Heart Mother" or "Meddle"... I would have voted for it... Of course, I love DSOTM... but... I agree. I like Dark Side a lot, but it wasn't as innovative as some of their earlier stuff.
Lucky
groundbreaking (adj): Synonyms: revolutionary, innovative, pioneering, radical, trailblazing, brand-new, cutting-edge, leading-edge Antonym: old hat 1. After School Session - Chuck Berry 2. Elvis Presley - Elvis Presley 3. Are You Experienced? - The Jimi Hendrix 4. Tommy - The Who 5. Sweetheart of the Rodeo - The Byrds 6. Complete Recordings, The - Robert Johnson 7. Saturday Night Fever: The Original Movie Soundtrack 8. Thriller - Michael Jackson 9. Bringing It All Back Home - Bob Dylan 10. Beauty and the Beat - Go-Go’s I tried to apply the definition to each album, and consider it the context of the time it was released. I wish I could have voted for some of the newer releases, but I honestly don't know them, so I don't know how they fit the definition.
Levis
1. Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain - Pavement 2. Stone Roses, The - The Stone Roses 3. Sonic Youth - Sonic Youth 4. Silver Apples - Silver Apples 5. Blue Lines - Massive Attack 6. Catch a Fire - Bob Marley & The Wailers 7. Trans-Europe Express - Kraftwerk 8. Superfuzz Bigmuff - Mudhoney 9. Thriller - Michael Jackson 10. Raising Hell - Run-D.M.C. So much switching around I'd have liked to vote for a post-rock nomination, but I think Slint were faaaaaaaaaaaar more influential than Godspeed You! and Explosions in the Sky. Slint had formed, recorded and disbanded by 1991 before these two bands even existed.
MindCrime
I still think that there wasn't enough nominations. There's probably 100 more that deserved mention on this list.

bluesboy
1. The Complete Recordings - Robert Johnson... in his era, he had no peers when it comes to guitar expertise, songwriting ability and singing. He created a higher plateau for all musicians to strive for. 2. Are You Experience - Jimi Hendrix... a Visionary. This album opened a new avenue on the rock 'n roll superhighway. 3. After School Session - Chuck Berry... all the '60s groups learned from the master. 4. Elvis Presley - Elvis Presley...synthysized the '50s country, r&b and blues musicians for mass appeal. 5. Bringing It All Back Home - Bob Dylan...expanding the bounds of acoustic introspection and electrifying the envelope of folk-rock. 6. Catch a Fire - Bob Marley & the Wailers...what intricate harmonies and storytelling. 7. Saturday Night Fever - Original Soundtrack...widened the disco appeal by tenfold. 8. Sweetheart of the Rodeo - The Byrds...Gram, Roger, Chris, Clarence - brilliant country rock. 9. Pet Sounds - Beach Boys 10. Thriller - Michael Jackson
