edna Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 I thought we had already done "Best Albums"... I mean, The Top Ten Albums... just the albums... and if we did, I can't find the thread... I also wonder what was the Top ten list... I guess Sticky Fingers was in it... or will be
edna Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 ...so I guess we didn't make a Top Ten Regular Albums... that would be interesting... the best album ever...
TheLizard Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 We did it in the regular top ten forum a while back, I think I remember.
edna Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 I cannot find it... and I think we should ahve done it here... Please,
Lucky Posted March 4, 2011 Author Report Posted March 4, 2011 That one we did back in '09. See the results: Here
edna Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 Let's do a Regular Albums Top ten... We should have done it long ago... but it still can be solved... let's do it next!!
RockyRaccoon Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 Since we did a Stones top ten, maybe we can do a top ten for other artists? Maybe (and perhaps we've already done this), a Beatles top ten? Or a Bob Dylan top ten? I mean, pretty much anyone.
RockyRaccoon Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 Another idea: what about doing an albums top ten like we do the songs top ten. We could do it once every other week or once a month or whatever people want. Each person could nominate an album, maybe highlight a couple tracks with links and then we have a top ten albums list. That way we won't have to keep racking our brains trying to think up specials. And there are so many albums out there, I'd think we'd be able to do it for awhile.
edna Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 Here you are Tu sei grande, il mio amico!! ...well, Sticky Fingers made it#2... not that bad...
pinkstones Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 Not one Pink Floyd album in the Top 10? Insanity.
edna Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 Yes, "Atom Heart Mother" should have been in the list. ...but it's in mine, and that's cool enough for me...
Lucky Posted March 9, 2011 Author Report Posted March 9, 2011 Another idea: what about doing an albums top ten like we do the songs top ten. Songfactor's Choice (originally Music of Choice) actually pre-dates the Top Ten. The idea of Songfactor's Choice is to provide something of interest to visitors to the site that don't necessarily frequent the message boards, hence, the blog. I don't know that random lists of just our favorite albums would promote much. The ideas are hopefully something to pique their interest and invite comments, etc. When it was changed to SF Choice, the original idea was to do a list monthly or so, of albums and/or other music related "stuff" books, movies, soundtracks, anything. For whatever reason, we keep gravitating back to albums, and all the many specials we can devise. So, remember, this subjects don't have to be about the best anything, least of all albums. Our subject can be anything music related, and that includes people (we've done women & frontmen). Put on those thinking caps, what's a really creative idea?
RockyRaccoon Posted March 10, 2011 Report Posted March 10, 2011 Ah ok. I didn't know that. Well as far as people goes, that invites the idea for (unless we've done all of these) best guitarist, bassist, drummer, keyboardist etc etc.
MindCrime Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 that could be interesting, just coming up with the nominees
miamisammy29 Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 I love that one. I already know my two nominations. And, no...they are not both Jimi Hendrix. :guitar: :guitar:
RockyRaccoon Posted November 1, 2012 Report Posted November 1, 2012 So hey guys. We haven't done one of these in somewhere around (and my math could be off) a billion years. I think we should do another one. I know that we're probably running out of ideas, so if anyone can think of something, that'd be awesome. I did have an idea though: I know that not everyone on this forum listens to new music, and that's fine, but if we had enough interest, I think we could honestly do a good job of a best of the year album thing each year. We could start soon (or whenever) with a best of 2010 and then a best of 2011 and then when the year is almost over, a best of 2012. If you don't remember what albums were released each year, you can check it out here at Best Ever Albums or you could probably check it out on Wikipedia. It seems to me that throughout the year people are always looking for the best of recent years, mostly because music is so readily available everywhere now that people want to discover new music. I think we could help people with that. I also think it could be good for site traffic (though I can't guarantee that, just a hunch). Most of all, I think it would be fun. Like I said, I realize not everyone here keeps up with new music, but between the people that do here, I think we could make a decent attempt at this. Now maybe I'm the only one who would be interested in this, and that's fine. If no one wants to do it, I don't have a problem with that. Also, if people are interested, but don't want to go with my idea, that's fine too. I'm happy to do whatever. So thoughts anyone?
Carl Posted November 2, 2012 Report Posted November 2, 2012 I like it. Maybe we should go backwards and start with 2012, since we're less than 2 months away from 2013.
RockyRaccoon Posted November 3, 2012 Report Posted November 3, 2012 Sounds good to me. I'm game for just about anything.
Lucky Posted November 5, 2012 Author Report Posted November 5, 2012 Go for it Rocky. We did a best of 2007, but then went off in best of decades ... I think it's a lovely idea, we've neglected SF Choice for too long.
edna Posted November 5, 2012 Report Posted November 5, 2012 I'll be in trouble to find songs from 2012 But I will search...
