bluesboy Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 I think I suggested before about Sports related movies...I have quite a few movies in mind for this topic...
chutzpah Posted July 17, 2010 Report Posted July 17, 2010 Ooops..wrong thread?... I've done the same thing...only the wrong forum I posted my PTT's on a yodeler's forum...They're still investigating...

Lucky Posted February 16, 2011 Author Report Posted February 16, 2011 It would seem that the Rolling Stones in some form or another might be a popular topic? I picked that up by reading between the lines somewhere. I'm quick like that. My question to you is this. Do you want to do top ten albums? The top 3 might be predictable, but the total list is bound to be interesting. Or, songs? And if songs, in what form? I would think top ten songs would be a bit dull, we've done 'em in some form a zillion times. We could however do underrated songs (defined as songs that didn't chart, or charted lower than 10 or something like that). So, which is it to be? We'll announce and open the new one this weekend.
MindCrime Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 of those two choices, I would say albums
RockyRaccoon Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 I'd go with albums too. Like you said, top three might be predictable, but it'd be interesting to see what else falls where. I had another idea for a special. Now this may be subject to opinion, just an idea I had, but perhaps we could do a top 10 worst and/or top ten best album covers. I thought that might be interesting.
edna Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 I'd go with albums too, though I'd also love to nominate my ever fave beautiful loser, "YOU BETTER MOVE ON", which must be by now the most nominated song that never made it in the Top ten I think we already did a Topten album covers some years ago...
miamisammy29 Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Albums are cool. I take it, then, that there would be no nominations? Just list 'em all and pick out your favorites?
bluesboy Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 I had a little bit different take on using The Rolling Stones. The British invasion covered so many dynamite blues, r&b and rock 'n roll songs that introduce worldwide audiences to the great musicians of the 1950's and '60s. How about The songs The Rolling Stones covered.
Dappled Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 I lke Bluesys idea. Then we'd really get to listen to the originals: Route 66, Down the Road Apiece, Little Red Rooster,....
miamisammy29 Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 Good one, Bluesy. And then next time...Rolling Stones songs covered by other artists.
bluesboy Posted February 19, 2011 Report Posted February 19, 2011 Actually on second thought... there really isn't that many songs to choose from. So maybe another idea would be appropriate.
MindCrime Posted February 19, 2011 Report Posted February 19, 2011 There's enough, I counted somewhere over 45.
Lucky Posted February 20, 2011 Author Report Posted February 20, 2011 Ok, now I'm in a quandry. which is it to be, albums or Rolling Stones covers? I think there are enough cover songs, as posted by our friend robertnice secondhandsongs , there are about 65 listed, and there may very well be more. If we did covers, it would be fun to post the original (if available) along with the Stone's version. I like either idea .... so I need a tiebreaker. Somebody? Anybody? We'll decide by tonight.
Farin Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 I know I'm nowhere near an expert, but aren't most of these songs very obscure? When in doubt I would go with what more people already know (and like).
TheLizard Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 Yeah, I think albums will appeal to more people.
MindCrime Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 Albums, but I would rather do a songs special in the other forum.
edna Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 I like both ideas... tough I agree with Martin, some might be a bit obscure. It's good for the blues&Stones connoisseurs but maybe a bit harder for the ones less familiar with them. So maybe we could start with albums...
Lucky Posted February 21, 2011 Author Report Posted February 21, 2011 Albums it shall be. I meant to open it last night, but did not .... we'll open 'er up tonight. I suppose as Sammy suggested we'll just post a list of the albums to choose from. Unless you want to nominate? And before the subject even comes up, Studio & Live albums only will be eligble, no compilations.
pinkstones Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 I think posting a list of albums would be better.
